We wanted to share a bit about what a day in the life of our family is like. This will give you a little glimpse at our life, especially on a day when we have some blog activities to attend. We also decided to share it with cell phone photos only because typically that’s what we have on hand and use the most often.
7:20 – 8:00 AM: Addie is almost always the first one up, she wakes up between 6:30-8am it just depends on the day. I got up and got her changed, and nursed her. It’s a nice bit of quiet time we get to spend together. I brought Addie to our bedroom, and passed her to Jason so that I could go get ready for the day.
8:00 AM: Evie was starting to yell out that she was awake to get our attention. She never gets out of bed until she has permission to, no idea how we lucked out with that but it’s awesome! Jason told her she could get up over the video monitor and she came over to our room.
8:30 – 9:00 AM: Everyone was getting ready to face the day. Evie seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed and was a total grump in the morning. She did not want to have a shower, get changed out of her pjs, or do much of anything. She even asked at one point “Where are we going today?” in a teenage voice like she did not want to be awake. You’d have thought we woke her up early or something.
9:00 AM: Everyone was having breakfast. We’ve been in battle mode with Evie because she has been refusing to eat much of anything. So when she requested to have cheese and crackers for breakfast, we said yes. Pick your battles right? If it meant she was going to eat, then why not. We were also packing up the diaper bag, getting bottles ready for Addie, and making sure we had the camera, stroller, and rain boots ready to go. We needed to be out the door soon.
9:35 AM: We got the girls into their car seats, and hit the road to got to Abbotsford. We were meeting up with a friend to take some photos at a daffodil farm. We had been praying that it would not rain all morning, but it started to down pour as we were driving. Addie fell asleep in the car, this is typically her morning nap time.
10:00 – 10:45 AM: Photo time! Addie went into the baby wrap, and the rest of us switched to our rain boots. We are so thankful to get to visit for a little bit, and get some photos (yes, we’ll be sharing more of them soon). We were even treated to one of mommy’s friends snapping a couple of all 4 of us. We actually do not have many of all of us, and this reminded us we need to take more! The rain did not hold off, but it was fine. The clouds help for beautiful photos. We soon got a heads up that traffic was backing up on the highway, and we knew we needed to hit the road. Jason needed to be in Vancouver by noon.
10:50 – 11:45AM: Thankfully whatever was wrong on the highway must have cleared up just before we left, there was a bit of traffic but it was manageable. We did however realize that Jason needed to be downtown by 11:50 and we made it just in time! We ended up dropping him off, and then going and finding parking.
12:00 – 12:50PM: Jason was attending an auto show, and us girls headed to find some lunch. We managed to find a Tim Hortons that was not over crowded despite it being lunch time, the only problem was we could not find an elevator to get to it! We ended up bumping the stroller down some stairs, and go rescued by a good samaritan who helped me lift the stroller down the rest of the way. Could not thank that person enough. Evie again let me know she was interested in eating, and that she also wanted a donut. Addie was still a happy camper in the stroller while we ate our lunch. Evie was the cutest, and wanted to save half her donut for later. We ended up needing a bathroom break after lunch which led to our trying to find one that would fit the double stroller in it. Once we were ready to go we tried to find an elevator again to get us back to street level. It took a bit, but we finally found one.
12:50 – 1:15PM: We explored a bit. Heading to the Olympic cauldron, and to the Digital Orca. Evie really wanted to see the orca but sadly it was roped off for the auto show. There was a bunch of cars on display around it. We still walked around in this area, basically wasting time until Jason was done, and ready to go home. We had to be back home in time for him to start work at 2pm. Ended up waiting with the girls at the convention centre for a little bit, and giving Addie a bottle. Evie enjoyed some more of her donut, that sadly was a bit smooshed from her stepping on it getting into the stroller. Don’t worry it was in a bag. Jason was done checking out the auto show, and found us. We all headed back to the parking garage to load into the car and head back home.
2:10PM – 4:30PM: Nap time! Was it ever needed. Evie fell asleep in the car for a little bit, and so did Addie, but they both needed proper naps. Thankfully Evie just crashed once tucked into her bed at home. Addie however did not. She is not a fan of napping anywhere but in someone’s arms. We’re working on that though, so I put her down for a nap in her crib and she was awake 30minutes later. That does not a nap make kid! While the girls are napping, and Jason is working I fit in a bit of time to get some blog work done.
4:30 – 5:00PM: Dinner time for Addie and Mommy. Today was a bit of a scramble for dinner. I grabbed a sandwich, and Jason grabbed something later. Evie didn’t eat until after she finally got up from her nap. This was not an everyone sit down for dinner all together day, and that’s ok… it happens. I did get to sit with Addie and feed her dinner. She has been loving trying food. She enjoys it so much she grabs the spoon and tries to shove it in her mouth. It normally results in the food being al over her face, but she’s trying.
5:30 – 7:00PM: Some quiet time before bed. Evie got to watch one show she’s a huge Mickey Mouse Club House fan. It was also bath time, and time to get ready for bed. I was also avoiding the laundry monster upstairs. We did manage to sort out the cloth diapers from it that need to be stuffed and put back in the change table drawer. Teeth were brushed and pyjamas were put on.
7:00 – 7:20PM: Jason took Addie and gave her a bottle before bed, and got her to sleep for the night. While I went and got Evie ready for bed. We read two stories together, and then I tucked her in. Evie loves to talk once she is tucked in for the night. It is when we often have some of our best conversations with her. It’s like she is finally calm enough to have a full conversation, and she wants to talk about everything from the day so we make sure she gets the opportunity to do so.
7:30 – 11PM: My opportunity to catch up on things, and Jason is done work for the day at 10pm. I started to pack the girls Easter Baskets after running out to the store to get some eggs. We realized the night before that we could not find the ones we have used pervious years. No idea where they disappeared to. I also took some time to do a few more blog things like finish this post.
There you have it a little look at a day in our life. Each day is different. Some days preschool is tossed in there, or Jason’s work schedule is different. This day we happened to travel in two completely opposite directions from our home, and back again. Some days we have a major house cleaning kick, or we tackle to-do lists. You really just never know what we will be up to, which I guess is why Evie asked where we were going that day. We love going places, and doing different activities as a family. Now off to stuff those diapers because I still have not done that yet!

Some days are busier than others. Today we have nothing planned to counter our busy day yesterday ๐

Beautiful photos, especially the daffodils! Thanks for this glimpse of your life. And we don’t always do dinners together either, especially when there’s a baby in the mix!
discoveryparent says
Thank you! Always tough to get everyone eating at the table at the same time especially with a baby and my husband working evening shifts.

I love posts like these. I love seeing how people live their lives. I also love the sleep bag in the first picture. I’m amazed that you were able to do so much in one day – and document it! Kudos. Quick question, though, what’s a digital orca?
discoveryparent says
It was a crazy busy day! Always have my phone handy to grab a quick shot. The digital orca is the one I have a picture of in my post Places to See: Vancouver with Little Kids

Sounds like such a fun day ๐ My oldest typically won’t eat when we aren’t home, so kudos for getting yours to eat while out and about <3

We are in the stage where it’s a struggle to get her to eat anything. I hope that changes soon!
