We were invited to attend the 5th annual Vancouver Christmas Market on their opening day. Many people were already lined up eager to go in when we arrived. The market is open now til December 24th.. and they are closing early that day, who can blame them when they will all want to be with their family, friends, and loved ones too! If you are looking for great food, with a Christmas atmosphere, this is the place for you.
Once inside you are instantly hit by all the incredible smells coming from all the different food vendors, and a few novelty gift vendors… candles, or honey anyone? There is a lot of vendors to check out, so take your time or you will miss something.
My favourite part of the market are all of the different ornaments available. Several vendors are from Germany, and have beautiful hand crafted ornaments from there. Käthe Wohlfahrt has a large corner of the market with all of their items displayed. I dream of bringing home a German pyramid windmill.
The highlight though is always the incredible food. If you are a major foodie, please go visit here if you can. If you work downtown, go on your lunch break! We got two types of sausages to try from Black Forest Delicatessen. The gentleman here are great, and the sausages are top notch. I seriously wish they delivered because I could go for another currywurst.
Evie loved watching the German pretzels being made at Brezelhaus, and she was a hit with the chefs. They waved, and interacted with her as she looked through the window watching what they were doing. It is little moments like this that make the market so special.
Since we arrived right at opening we headed for the carousel right away. I am glad we did because when we went for another ride later sadly Evie had to sit on the bench instead of riding on the horse with me holding her. Parents if your youngsters like rides they need to be 36 inches tall to ride on the horses of the carousel. We still had a great time.
I am hoping that we will get to go back to the market one more time before the Christmas season is over. I didn’t purchase a couple Christmas ornaments I saw, and I am kind of regretting it… perhaps a date night in the near future with my husband is in order?
If you are looking for something to do, and are in the Vancouver area check out the market. Go enjoyed some mulled wine, or hot apple cider.

this would be my first time ever going! I love that my kids are a little bit older and are just as excited as I am to decorate and watch Christmas movies and drink hot chocolate!

I haven’t been before, but I would love to take my daughter to it. I like all the decorations and the hustle and bustle of it all.
