A month later and I’m finally getting around to sharing about Evie’s 5th birthday party. With her birthday being right in between Christmas and New Years, we decided to delay her birthday party. Little did we know that things would be affected again with Jason’s health but we made it work. Thankfully, Evie requested a simple art party and that just what she had.
There is a 4Cats Art Studio just up the road from our house, it’s small but offered just what was needed to celebrate her 5th birthday. She wanted a small group of friends and to have fun creating fairies and painting. We were able to check all of this off by having her party there. It was a change of pace for me, as her previous parties have been bigger.
KEEP THE SNACKS SIMPLE
When it came to food for the kids we decided to keep the snacks simple. We scheduled the party to be after lunch and before dinner time. We had juice boxes, fruit, veggies, some chips and of course home-made cupcakes. I made the cupcakes exactly to Evie’s liking. She wanted sprinkles, sprinkles, and more sprinkles and vanilla. Some of the kids snacked throughout their art creating. Most waited til after all their pieces were done. There may have been one little girl who snuck the icing off three cupcakes before we even had the chance to sing happy birthday *cough* Addie *cough*.
GET CREATIVE
Sometimes 4Cats parties can get messy; there’s a splatter paint party option! This one was less mess and more glitter. There are several different party options, Evie knew she wanted to make fairies and thankful they had something just for that. Each child got to create a fairy out of clay and then paint a background that it was attached too.
I am thankful for a couple friends who stayed at the party and helped the kids with a little extra guidance. Everyone did great and I love how each fairy was unique. From Viking crowns to Elsa braids, each one was special to their artist. The one thing I would make note of if I were to do an art party again, is warning parents to send kids in play clothing. Thankfully, 4Cats had art shirts the kids were able to wear!

ENDING THE PARTY WITH A BIRTHDAY WISH
Evie blew out the candle on her birthday cupcake and made her birthday wish, which she will not share with anyone. Though I suspect it involves going back to Disneyland. She opened gifts while surrounded by her friends. It’s always a bit of a whirlwind when you reach that point of the party. At the end of the party she was over the moon happy and that’s what matters the most.

What I think is so wonderful is how well their creations come out. Way better than anything my overthinking, this isn’t good enough, adult mind would produce.
