This weekend gave us a reminder that Fall is right around the corner. The first day of Fall is less than two weeks away. As a family, after our oldest declared what she wanted to do, we headed out to do one of our favourite Fall-like activities. Apple picking. We started talking about all the things we love about Fall and decided to share our list with all of you.
- Fall Wardrobes.
Bring on layering. No more melting in the Summer sun. We all love to be able to wear layers and are excited to bust out our Fall wardrobes. We cannot wait to wear boots, jeans, scarves, sweaters, and so much more. Plus all the rich colours that come with the season. - The Weather.
The heat is finally over and things start to cool down. We like the transition to mild temperatures during the day and cool evenings. There’s something nice about opening up the windows on a rainy day. It’s also nice to go for walks during Fall for so many different reasons and this is one of them. - The Colours.
There is something special about the leaves changing colours and everything, not all being green. We all love seeing the leaves change colours. The reds, yellows, and oranges. Have you also ever just stopped and taken in how amazing everything looks after the rain stops? The colours during Fall are even more amazing. - Hot Drinks.
Gone are the days of iced coffee and we say hello to hot drinks. Give us all the London fog, chai tea, pumpkin spice, hot chocolate, apple cider, and all sorts of hot coffee. Fall walks are made all the better with a hot beverage warming your hands along the way. - Slow-cooked Meals.
We stopped using our slow cooker during the Summer. It just made things too hot in the house. It will soon be making its debut back in our kitchen. The return of Fall means stews are back on the meal plan. Now to find some more recipes to try. - Pumpkin Everywhere.
Evie gets excited about Falls arrival because it means pumpkins are going to be out soon and she also knows it means Addie’s birthday is coming. While the kids want to get pumpkins to carve, we want to try all the different pumpkin treats. Pumpkin Spice Lattes and pumpkin scones. - Seasonal Activities.
We started a tradition years ago of heading to local farms that have orchards and pumpkin patches. We always look forward to going as a family to try our sense of direction through a corn maze and searching for the perfect pumpkin in all of the patch. Plus, going for a hay ride or two is a must. You can also include going trick-or-treating in this. We may have already decided what everyone’s costumes will be this year.
Our apologies to those of you who love the hot weather of Summer, this little family is ready for the seasons to change. We hope our little list of things we love about Fall has you looking forward to its arrival too!
