We are excited for 2014 and seeing what is in store. We don’t really make resolutions, but there are things we are working on and have been for a bit now, and of course will continue to do so. Do you make new year resolutions?
Some of the things we are working on are:
Finances: Really when are families not focused on this? This year we have decided to try a very cash only focused plan. We will also be keeping track of things a whole lot more. We are hoping to be able to save to go on a family vacation too maybe not in 2014, but 2015 we sure hope to. We want to be better about our money, and keep things on track. We may even do the jars money system. Still lots to figure out with this.
Focus on Our Family: You may see a few less blog posts from me, as we have decided we want to focus more of our time on our family. This also includes putting phones away, and keeping the tv off. We want to make sure our time together is really quality family time. There should be more time playing.
Drink More Water: This one might seem odd, but I’ve heard from a few people its something they are focusing on too. I was so good about drinking lots of water when I was pregnant and I have slacked off. Bring on the water bottles being brought with us every where we go. Even Everly loves having her little sippy cup of water.
Slow Down: I want to slow down, to be more on Everly’s time line. To enjoy things through hear eyes, and walk slowly along side her. She is growing so fast, I don’t want to look back and have regrets. She sees all the small little details, she has reminded us we need to do the same. There is a little poem that always goes through my mind when I think of this.
Slow down mummy, there is no need to rush,
slow down mummy, what is all the fuss?
Slow down mummy, make yourself a cup tea.
Slow down mummy, come and spend some time with me.Slow down mummy, let’s put our boots on and go out for a walk,
let’s kick at piles of leaves, and smile and laugh and talk.
Slow down mummy, you look ever so tired,
come sit and snuggle under the duvet and rest with me a while.Slow down mummy, those dirty dishes can wait,
slow down mummy, let’s have some fun, let’s bake a cake!
Slow down mummy I know you work a lot,
but sometimes mummy, its nice when you just stop.Sit with us a minute,
& listen to our day,
spend a cherished moment,
because our childhood is not here to stay!Poem by Rebekah Knight
