We had heard awhile back that there is a park near the airport in Richmond. Because of the summer break, we were finally able to check it out. The park had us wishing that we’d packed a picnic and blanket to sit and watch all the planes going by.
IF YOUR CHILD LOVES PLANES, THIS IS A MUST
If you have a child who loves planes, going to this little park is a must! This park is very simplistic, there are no washrooms! Washrooms would be a great addition to make this a more family-friendly spot.
You’ll find that there are several spaces that make viewing the planes easier for all ages. There are benches to sit on, including ones that look like paper airplanes. The small hills are perfect to go to the top of for an unobstructed view. Our girls loved climbing to the top of the giant globe, especially since it is the focal point of the park. From the top of the globe, they could see everything easily! We love the flightpaths that cover the globe and discovering some of the places that BC is connected by flights all over the world.
Surrounding the globe are tail wings covered in facts about YVR. You may be busy keeping up with your kids as they pretend to be planes flying around. Once they spot the runways that are on the ground any kid will be off and flying. These mini runways look like real ones and have all the markings to make them as authentic as possible.
LET THEIR IMAGINATIONS TAKE THEM ON AN ADVENTURE
Visiting Flight Path Park is a fun little activity to do this summer. The girls were letting their imaginations take them on an adventure all around the world. If you’re wanting to visit you can find the park located near the intersection of Russ Baker Way and Airport Road in Richmond.
