We received the kindest invitation to have dinner involving all things strawberry at Maan Farms. It was more than we could ever imagine and checked a few things off our summer bucket list; picking strawberries and a long table dinner outside. We’d never been to Maan Farms before so we were incredibly excited to go visit.
BE A STRAWBERRY… BLOSSOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED
We were overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of everyone there, especially the whole Maan family. There truly is something to food being the way to people’s heart and it bringing needed comfort. I ended up in tears when we got home and had to send an email saying thank you right away. This was just what we needed as a family. A night out together, surrounded by good food, kind people, and making some very special memories; like my having the second peanut butter and jelly sandwich I have ever had.
The food was absolutely incredible. I now have so many ideas for things to make with strawberries. It was a good thing too because later the kids were going to get to pick strawberries. There were grilled sandwiches with cheese, sliced strawberries and spinach inside, strawberry rhubarb pie, strawberry cake and cupcakes, and so much more. I cannot forget to mention the homemade strawberry lemonade but also the homemade veggie samosas. If you’re ever out at Maan Farm and you can get samosas and pick up a jar of their chutney… do it!
HAPPINESS IS A BASKET OF FRESH STRAWBERRIES
The girls got to learn all about strawberries from how they grow to the proper way to pick them. It reminded me of the importance of shopping local and supporting our local farms. I loved seeing the girls take it all in and learn from what was shared with them. The big moment came when they got to take a bucket and go into the fields and fill it with strawberries that they had to pick.
This made their night. My kids have this passion for strawberries and getting to pick them. I love seeing them go up and down the rows hunting for the perfect red ones. Addie wanted to eat all of them right away. Evie was on a mission to get her bucket as full as possible. Towards the end, they started to work together, it was the sweetest thing to see.
Thank you so much to Maan Farms for inviting us to your farm. It meant so much to my family and I. We hope to be back very soon to visit and get some more fresh goodies and to restock on the chutney.
HAVE YOU GONE STRAWBERRY PICKING THIS SEASON?
