It has been an interesting week back at work for me, mostly thanks to lack of sleep. I started it off with a a very poor nights sleep. Our little girl has been teething as you know, and she was up every 2 hours during the night. She needed cuddles and lots of comfort. She also woke up once very hungry. This has been the pattern for most of the nights this week. Thankfully the number of times she has woken up has decreased. Poor girl has also been dealing with a cold, that seems to have only lasted a couple days. Between teething, a cold, and what seems to be a growth spurt she has been a bit of a grump and things can easily set her off.
Is it possible for a little one to be a happy grump? Sure she has had her moments of melting down, and everything setting her off, but she snaps out of it so quickly and is back to giggling. I just pray all those teeth will get in soon. One of my co-workers said it is a good thing her teeth are taking their time to come in because it means she will have them fall out later in life, giving her jaw more time to grow and let adult teeth have space. Don’t know if that is true, I’ll have to ask at the dentist next time we go.
I am loving the new phase Evie is in. She is making so many connections as to how things work, and how to do things. It is incredible to see how her little mind is working. She is constantly bringing us shoes and pointing at her feet, and back at the shoes. Letting us know she wants them on. She helps us by stretching out her hands and feet when we are getting her dressed. She knows she has to brush back and forth with the tooth brush. That dishes go into the dishwasher when dirty. The list goes on. We are really enjoying this age she is at, it is so much fun seeing all of her personality come out.
It has been almost harder to go back to work after Christmas break. I am so thankful for those extra two weeks off with my little family, but it still is hard to give kisses goodbye each morning. I make sure to get my cuddles in each morning, and kisses before I leave. We are slowly getting back into our new “normal” routine as a family.
I have been putting together different little activities and things for Evie to do with her Daddy. I am still trying to round up even more. Right now she is loving letters, and will say “buh” and “fff” when we sing the different alphabet letter songs with her, b and f are well on their way. We got her these cute little flash cards that you use a pen paintbrush that you put water into to make the images and letters appear. Works wit her fine motor skills, and in teaching her the alphabet.
Any suggestions for fun little activities for Daddy-and-Daughter at home days?
