With our firstborn we simply used a little bath support sling that went into our bathtub. I was not a fan of bending over the tub, and having to sit funny in order to reach our daughter. This time round with our newborn daughter, I knew we needed something different. Blooming Bath came to the rescue, and is making bath time extra cute!
Right away I loved the idea of being able to bathe my our daughter in the sink. No more leaning over the tub, causing unnecessary pain to my back. Instead Blooming Bath allows me to stand upright near the sink, and have better eye contact with my daughter. Can I just take a minute to say thank you to the four dads who invented created Blooming Bath – thank you! No seriously, thank you for coming up with a way to make bath time easier on all of us parents.
The Blooming Bath is a plush, soft flower that fits into the sink so that you do not have to worry about the hard, cold sides of the sink. This helps make bath time a fun, and safe environment. The flower shape conforms to any sink so that it can cradle baby. I’m able to stand upright at the sink to give her a bath. This product is a win-win all around.
To use it I simply filled our sink with about an inch of warm water, and then I set the Blooming Bath into it, pressing the centre of the flower into the bottom of the sink. I added a little bit more water so that there was some water sitting on the top side of the flower too. Next up, Addie. I placed her bum on the bottom of the flower, but towards the back of it, and she rested against some of the petals. Since she is a newborn I kept one hand supporting her head as she does like to move around a lot. Then it was bath time, and I was able to wash her with my free hand no problem.
It was so nice to have everything at arms reach, up on the counter space, and near the sink during bath time. What a difference it made. I loved that I was able to look easily at my daughter the whole time, and have eye contact with her while interacting during her bath. I never felt like I had to rush through bath time because of my back starting to ache from hunching over the tub. It was also the cutest bath every, I mean how can you not love seeing a little newborn having a bath on a flower? My daughter reminded me of a little fairy the whole time.
Clean up was incredibly easy. After passing Addie off to her Daddy to get dried off and dressed, I went about tidying everything. I drained the water from the sink, and then folded the flower in half bringing the petals towards the middle and pressed the excess water out of it. I then put it in the dryer for about 15 minutes on the gentle setting to dry it. That was it, that was all I needed to do. If I find that there is excess soap in the flower, I send it through the washing machine on the hand wash setting and then put it into the dryer. So simple, and so appreciated by me as a Mom to not have a long clean up process.
The Blooming Bath comes in hot pink, canary yellow, turquoise, ivory, and green. Covering the whole spectrum of colours, you are sure to find one you like. Each Blooming Bath measures 32 inches from tip to tip, and the very centre of the flower is 10 inches in diameter. There is lots of surface area to protect your baby while in the sink for bath time. To store after bath time, I simply put it back in the package it came in which is a plastic bag that zips up.
The Blooming bath is recommended from newborn to 6 months of age, but really there is no age or weight limit on it since each child is unique and grows at different rates. I have also heard from a few people who have continued to use this after that range, instead of using it in the sink, they place it in the bathtub as a mat to sit on. The Blooming bath is available to purchase for $39.99 in a range of colours. You can follow Blooming Bath on Facebook and Twitter.
