BOTTLES. BOTTLES. EVERYWHERE.
There are all sorts of bottles out there. How do you pick which to use with your child? It can be extremely intimidating to figure out a bottle to use with your child. Don’t let that wall in the baby store intimidate you.
For me, bottle feeding was a must very early on with both of my daughters. My girls were hungry and I couldn’t provide what they needed. Try as I might, conversations with my Doctor, and so much more my milk supply was extremely low. My girls both needed to be bottle feed. They were happy and so was I, but figuring out bottles was trying. We ended up with a large stash of failed bottles.
Both of my girls had one thing in common for what they needed from a bottle. They both needed a bottle that would help with reflux. My sweet babies both had upset tummies after feeding, it was heartbreaking. Sometimes immediately after a feed, or an hour later they would arch their back, cry constantly, and throw up what seemed to be the entire contents of their bottle. I had to find a bottle that would help alleviate their discomfort.
BOTTLES FOR LITTLE ONES TO EASE DISCOMFORT
It wasn’t until our youngest daughter was older that Philips Avent Anti-Colic Bottles. I wish someone had mentioned these bottles sooner. If I could go back to when we first introduced bottles and reflux was a huge problem, I would want to give these a try. I feel like they would have made a difference with her feeds then too.
The anti-colic bottles have an Airflex venting system. The valve has been integrated into the design of the nipples for the bottles. As your child is feeding the valves send the air into and towards the back of the bottles and not into your child’s tummy. This is what helps to reduce gas, burping, and spit-up. I definitely noticed a difference when I introduced these bottles to my youngest daughter. She was less fussy and was not burping after a feed.
Thanks to bottle feeding my daughters both have grown up healthy and happy. I have gone by “A fed and happy baby and a happy mommy are what is best”. Breastfeeding did not work out how I hoped and bottle feeding was a bit of a journey too. We found what worked for us and everyone was all the better for it.
For those who are just starting bottle feeding, I strongly encourage you to pay attention to your baby’s needs. For us, this meant finding a bottle that helped with reflux and tummy fussiness. Philips Avent Anti-Colic Bottles do just that.
