Bonnets make me think of many of the story books I loved growing up such Little Women, Little House on the Prairie, and some fairy tales. They are beginning to make a reappearance, and I am loving seeing them be worn more and more by little girls. There is just something so incredibly sweet about a little girl in a bonnet tied in a bow under their chin. Bonnets are not just for babies, they can also be worn by little girls and I have even seen a few boys wearing them recently and I love the look! A bonnet was quickly added to my wish list for both of my girls, I have a love for vintage styles. When I came across Briar Handmade on my Instagram one day I instantly loved the bonnets they had available.
These little bonnets arrived on the scene when founder, Rachel Goode, started creating them for her own daughter. She wanted a hat that tied, and that appealed to her. So, she ended up making her own for her daughter. There was a love for the little hats that covered ears, but also looked darling on. Briar Handmade is based in the Pacific Northwest, and all of the bonnets are manufactured in the USA.
I can already picture my collection of bonnets for my daughters growing. Briar Handmade has bonnets for all the seasons, including beautiful wool ones for the winter. I can already picture my girls wearing a wool bonnet with a pom pom on top next winter, and a brimmed sun hat in the summer. Both my girls are fair skinned so that brimmed hat will be welcomed especially since it ties under the chin. I know that hat will not blow away from a gust of wind while we are visiting the beach. If you do not already love this fashion statement the littles are wearing you soon will. There are classic neutral styles to bold, colourful prints. You are sure to find something to go with your child’s wardrobe.
The bonnets fit snug around your child’s face, and really make their eyes stand out much more. They frame their faces beautifully. My girls have received many compliments while wearing their bonnets, and I’ve been asked where I got them from. Which I gladly informed them about Briar Handmade. My girls are wearing the Little Red bonnet from the fall line up, which is sold out right now. While it may be a fall bonnet, it is the perfect bright holly red for Christmas time. My daughter’s heads are covered, and kept warm when we go out and about.
Check out Briar Handmade for more of their gorgeous bonnets. Follow on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to make sure you do not miss out on a new release. I will be keeping an eye out to see what will be popping up in the new year.
