We went to a new coffee shop in town after hearing about it from several friends. It’s called Caffé Delish and they are truly living up to their name of being delicious. We can say that honestly after having tried several of their baked goods and a couple of beverages. What’s so special about another coffee shop? Well, this one is completely gluten free, located in Port Coquitlam.
CAFFÉ DELISH IS DELICIOUS
LOCATION: 2180 Kelly Ave Unit 4110 in the new Montrose Square development
HOURS: Tuesday to Sunday 9am – 5pm
YOU MIGHT ALREADY KNOW THE NAME
Now if you have to eat gluten-free for whatever reason, celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, you may already know of the name Delish. This caffé is connected to the specialty bakery that is also located in Port Coquitlam. The people behind this company have worked hard to create yummy baked goods that don’t compromise on taste and quality. You could already purchase their baked goods there, but this caffé turns it into a whole experience with the opportunity to sit down and enjoy knowing you don’t have to worry about getting gluttened.
I don’t need to eat gluten-free. I do however have multiple family members and friends who need to. Through them, and especially my friend Natalie (You can find her over at @gf.review on Instagram), I’ve realized just how careful you have to be when it comes to things like cross-contamination and knowing how foods are prepared.
GIVE IT A TRY
We decided to stop in close to their grand opening day. My sister had helped watch our girls when we were welcoming our son Truett into the world. Part of why we headed out that way was that we wanted to get her some treats to enjoy. When we told her about this new location she instantly was excited for things like donuts to eat! Finding baked goods that taste good while being safe to eat is such a treat.
So what exactly did we order? Jason enjoyed an americano. I ordered a strawberry Italian soda that was promptly stolen by our toddler. As for the food? We got my sister a sausage roll, oat bar, and oreo cookie. For ourselves, we got a quinoa chocolate chip cookie. We didn’t taste-test the items in the box that was for my sister, but she did try the sausage roll immediately at her softball game when we gave her the items. You’ll have to take her word on it, but she said it was really good and that it’s been years since she’s eaten something like that.
For me, I cannot recommend the quinoa chocolate chip cookie enough. It quickly took first place in being the best chocolate chip cookie I have had. We actually went back in and ordered more. Knowing we needed to drop one off at our sister-in-law to also try. I’m currently sad we did purchase more to take home and save for later. They’re that good!
WE’LL BE BACK TO THE MONTROSE SQUARE DEVELOPMENT
This caffé is tucked into the Montrose Square development next to the Terry Fox Hometown Square and the Port Coquitlam Community Centre. We will be back to go here and to check out what else is in the area.
