The winter break was coming to an end and my sister called. She kicked out butts in gear and convinced us to get out the door so we could all go on an adventure. Now, my sister is super outdoorsy. She loves to hike and drive her 4×4 truck up into the mountain. I, however… like being at home. Thankfully she picked something that was just right for me and just right for the girls.
Off we went to Cascade Falls and suspension bridge. It is just over an hour to get there from Surrey. Cascade Falls Regional Park is located in Deroche, BC. I’d only ever heard of this place thanks to Instagram and the many people who have shared about it there. I’d never been before.
IT’S A SHORT WALK FROM THE PARKING LOT
It’s a short walk from the parking lot to the waterfall. Yes, I said walk. Though, it’s an inclined walk with steps. Take the trail that is on the right as you walk through a gate. You can’t miss it, the rocky path goes up. Once you’re up the path, stairs, and little wooden bridge you are at the waterfall. The girls were impressed by how short the trek was to get to it. It is amazing that something so beautiful isn’t that far away.
We visited right after a night of rainfall so the water was gushing. We all loved hearing the waterfall roar. It also makes the deck and suspension bridge a bit of a splash zone. You may want to go wearing a rain coat. Apparently, in the summer some people do swim in the pools up at the top of the falls. If you do that, please be safe. Things like that freak me out a little.
If you need something to do this weekend, maybe go check out Cascade Falls yourself!
I love this photo that my husband captured of Cascade Falls. He patiently set up his camera for a long exposure. He tried to get the girls to stop running around and bouncing on the deck to keep the camera still.
