I’ve been taking some time off and away from blogging. Slowing it down a lot. I needed it. The past few months have been hard on me. Plus I find this time of year difficult as is. While I love the Christmas season, it’s not always the season to be jolly. Sometimes I was just doing my best to put a smile on my face. Here we are though, on the other side of Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU GUYS!
All around we had a really lovely Christmas spent with family. The girls had school and I had work right up to the 20th of December. I am not a fan of when we don’t get out with a nice gap before Christmas. Everything feels so rushed, and everyone is over being in school. We all just want to be home celebrating. We managed to cram in a lot of Christmas movies and some baking. We even got the Christmas gifts all wrapped early.
It took me a while to figure out what our youngest daughter meant by “robot puppy” that was on her wishlist. You guys, I tried to solve this mystery for months. Our oldest kept things really simple with a request for a watch. Her sister was the one who picked out a watch just for her. It was honestly the sweetest thing. Plus, she’s already telling time and we’re using it to our advantage when we say “you have 5 minutes and then we are leaving”. No more arguing about it.
The girls had a hard time settling and going to sleep on Christmas Eve. Can’t blame them. I remember struggling with that as a kid and not falling asleep till midnight. Add in that our oldest had a wiggly front tooth that was driving her crazy… it made things interesting when figuring out when to put the gifts out.
We hosted Christmas dinner with our family this year. Which meant figuring out something for everyone. From vegan to gluten-free and dairy-free. There was something for everyone to enjoy at dinner time. I even attempted making a vegan gluten-free stuffing thanks to Jillian Harris’ cookbook. Apparently it tasted great. Don’t ask me though, I’m not a fan of mushrooms. Our dessert table was also overflowing. Guess we like our food in this family.
We are looking forward to the New Year and hopefully a night filled with all sorts of games. The days in between Christmas and New Year’s Eve always feel like a bit of a blur with cookie crumbs and cranberry stains here and there. We are hoping and praying for 2020 to be an incredible year for our family. Our 10 year wedding anniversary is coming up. Plus we want to just make many happy memories as a family. I guess that is our main focus; family.
