It’s Boxing Day morning, Christmas has come and gone. We are not braving the stores today. Instead, we slept in and the girls are playing with their new train table and watching Christmas movies. Our Christmas was just what we needed this year, slow and filled with family. Today, we are soaking it all in.
Christmas Eve, we called for backup to help set up the train table we got for the girls. We purposely bought got them one used because there are always so many popping up on the swaps and Craigslist, plus with the help of friends, we found everything we needed for it. My Dad though is the professional train track builder. He always made the best tracks for my sisters and me when we were little, plus I had no clue where to begin in putting it together.
Once the train table was set after the girls had gone to bed, we filled the stockings and crawled into bed ourselves. We knew the morning would come quickly. Oddly, the girls slept in! They stayed asleep until 8am! Merry Christmas to us! The girls rushed downstairs and spotted their train table immediately. It was put to use for playing with right away. We opened our stockings to see what was inside. The girls had the usual toothbrush, treat and toy. Jason and I kept it practical with a coat and fitness tracker for him, but he surprised me. I received a necklace with the girls names on the front but was overcome with more emotions when I saw “Forever Mama” written on the back in memory of our two littles on the back. All 4 of my children in one place.
We got ready to head over to my parents for brunch. The rest of Christmas was filled with family gathers. Good food for brunch with family surrounding the table. The girls were blessed with more gifts here and more at our big family dinner gathering in the afternoon. No naps were had and late in the evening, we could tell it was time to head back home and go to sleep. I love Christmas for it bringing all of our family together.
We hope you all had a very merry Christmas filled with all sorts of memories.
