With working in a school and sending my oldest daughter to kindergarten this year there was one thing I was just counting the days until. I was counting until the dreaded back to school cold hit our family. We didn’t make it far into the first month of school before this mama had a cold. Thankfully, I was prepared this year.
No need for a late night run to the store to get some cough and cold medicine. I already had what I needed on hand at home. A friend of mine had introduced me to Boiron when my oldest was little and dealing with teething, it wasn’t long after that I discovered their line of medicines to help with cold and flu season.
In our house, you’ll find Children’s Stodal Honey cough syrup, Oscillococcinum, and Coryzalia.
Stodal Honey has been used the most in our house. It’s a homeopathic medicine to help with wet or dry coughs. It’s for kids 1 to 11 years old, but I will be honest even I have used this before to help with my cough. The honey-based formula has a better taste than other cough medicine options out there which is why even I have used this.
My youngest was sadly the next one to get the cold, but her symptoms were different. The poor girl was dealing with a head cold. She had a stuffy nose, but then in the evening was dealing with it being runny. Not fun when all you want to do is rest and get a good sleep. Coryzalia to the rescue for her. It comes in little unit doses that are easy to administer. I’ve also learned to keep a package of them in the diaper bag just in case.
I am thankful the flu has not hit us yet, but Oscillococcinum will help us deal with that if we need to. This one is for all the ached that come with the flu, the dreaded body aches, headaches, and chills. I’m saying a prayer we won’t have to deal with anyone in our family getting the flu, at least we’re prepared if needed.
Fall has arrived and so has cold and flu season. Are you prepared to alleviate symptoms and help your family feel better?

Thanks for sharing! I had never heard of these products and I love finding effective alternatives to traditional meds. I’ll have to give this a try:) We’ve already had our first cold of the season, I’m sure it won’t be our last!

That’s part of why I was so thrilled when my family and friends first introduced me to Boiron. I had to share with everyone here! I should have a long time ago.

We have been doing pretty well so far. Having a school-aged child always makes this season an interesting one!!

I know I dread this every year too! We have used the oscilli… you know that really long word and it does work. I’m interested in the cough syrup now. I hope your kiddos stay healthy this year. 🙂
discoveryparent says
We call it by that for short too. My mom took that with her on her cruise to help prevent catching anything on the boat. Worked perfectly.
Ashley says
I will definitely have to pick up some Boiron as we head into cold season!
discoveryparent says
I hope you get a chance to, it’s a must to have on hand at home.

We’ve already been hit with the cold bug in our house. I’ll have to try Boiron out this winter.
discoveryparent says
Definitely get some Boiron to keep at home, you just never know when it will be needed. The middle of the night wake up calls because someone is sick are the worst. There’s never a store open.
