I heard about Counting Sheep Coffee on Dragon’s Den one evening. Jason and I enjoy watching the show to see what up and coming companies and products are out there. Did anyone else see this episode? This one got my attention because Jason cannot have coffee after 2pm or he will be up all night! Here was a coffee that is supposed to help you unwind at the end of the day. You get to enjoy a cup of coffee, but you will also have a restful sleep.
Counting Sheep Coffee very kindly provided me with a pack of their Lights Out individual pods (they are compatible with most K-Cup brewers) and most recently I also received a bag of the Bedtime Blend from a blogger event. I was excited to have several options to try. I’ve never really had an issue when it comes to having a cup of coffee or tea before bed. That being said I do like a good cup of coffee or tea before bed, I find it relaxing. I do have the odd evening where it’s very difficult to turn my brain off and just relax (any other parent’s out there dealing with the same thing?).
Deland Jessop came up with this coffee idea as a way to help his wife get a good nights sleep. He soon realized he was on to something, and since then it has taken off. What I really like is that this company is local, and was founded in Vancouver in 2013.
Counting Sheep Coffee is a gourmet decaffeinated coffee, that contains Valerian root, an all-natural herbal sedative. Light’s Out is the stronger blend, so if you really need some help getting to sleep this option would be the one you want to try. I really liked the flavour of this coffee, where my hubby is more used to the strong flavour of caffeinated coffee. I had a great nights sleep after drinking a cup of this coffee in the evening. I know many people who love their coffee, and many of them have all said they would love to end their day with a good cup of coffee. While my husband found he didn’t feel sleepy like I did, though I can attest to the fact that he slept well too after having Counting Sheep Coffee… he hogged the bed and was in such a deep sleep I couldn’t get him to move to his side!
So if you are a huge coffee fan and would love to be able to have a good cup of coffee before bed, or with dessert at dinner time, or maybe you just want to try something different Counting Sheep Coffee has very kindly offered to do a giveaway with Discovering Parenthood followers who live in British Columbia.

I love coffee but I can’t drink it after 12pm or I have trouble sleeping. Would love to see if it actually works!

It sure helped me. It definitely depends on the person I find, but so far all women I know who have tried it have said it helps. I need my warm drink of tea in the evening, adding a coffee was a nice change.

I can’t even have coffee after 11 and sleep well, so I’m really interested in trying this. Thanks for the giveaway.
TamaraG says
No way, after 11am? That I think may be the earliest I’ve heard compared to my husband.

I always have problems sleeping at night if I drink coffee after 2 or 3pm. But sometimes it’d be nice to sit down with a hot cup of coffee at night while watching my fave TV shows
TamaraG says
I am seeing a common trend that many can’t drink coffee after a certain time, this just may be the answer for all coffee fans out there.

I do love coffee. I used to be able to go to work for 8 hrs, come home to 4 kids, make dinner, work out and then drink a cup of coffee in bed before I fell asleep, but not anymore lol I’d love to try this!
Thanks
TamaraG says
4 kids, wow! I would need coffee round the clock. Good luck Anne.

Ooh this sounds like such a neat invention!! I live for coffee and can drink it pretty much whenever with no price to pay, but I have a good friend who can’t drink coffee past 12 or he won’t sleep!
What is the roast like on this coffee?
TamaraG says
I will find out about the roast for you! What is your favourite coffee?
ritusundaram says
Right now our fave is Ethical Bean – Lush… We get bored though so we love trying now coffees! We prefer dark roasts. Kamodo Dragon by Starbucks is also great. We go through a lot of coffee and have no problems maintaining our “gold card” status at Starbucks lol!

I actually don’t drink coffee because I can’t handle the caffeine but my husband drinks coffee and he is always making the mistake of drinking some too late in the day and sometimes he has trouble getting to sleep. I’d even like to try it since it’s decaffeinated.

I’m really sensitive to caffeine but I would love to try this coffee. Of course in this heat, it will likely be turned into a frapp, since it’s a wee bit hot for coffee!
Jeannie says
I never have coffee after 3pm, but with this coffee, I’m willing to give it a try to see.
