We shared our little bucket-list for this summer. Right now our main goal is trying to stay cool this summer! The other weekend we were driving home from Kelowna and melting in the heat. Thankfully, my sister met us in Cultus Lake and we went to the Cultus Lake Waterpark. It was definitely a great way to beat the heat!
WHAT OUR KIDDOS LOVED ABOUT THIS WATERPARK
The first question we got, as soon as people found out we went with the girls was “Was there anything for them to do?”. There was a lot more than I expected for their age and swimming ability! The Cultus Lake Waterpark has definitely expanded since the last time I’d been there (back in middle school) and I was impressed.
The girls had a couple areas that were their favourite. There was the Turtle Pool + Slides, Pirates Cove, Tots Castle, and Family Spray Park. They also really liked the Adventure River. All of these were very kid-friendly, some did require an adult to be near them as they felt better having someone near; such as being on the tube floating along the river.
I do strongly suggest that you bring your own puddle jumper or life jackets for your kids. This way you know that they fit properly and you do not have to worry about renting one, though this option is available. Plus, if you haven’t bought something for your kiddo yet… get one that is NOT blue. Get a bright colour that you can spot easily! You’ll thank me for that later… everyone has blue for their kiddo. I need to get a neon pink one instead of the one we have.
OUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WHEN YOU VISIT
There are a few things we figured out quickly while there. If you are pulling in to park, pay attention to if there are any spots available at the front and do not let them send you to the overflow back lot. Unfortunately, they charge $12 in that lot, but in the front lots the parking is only $5. This is not okay in my books and is something they need to correct. If you can arrive as early in the day as you can, get there for opening and stay all day even, just be sure to pack some lunch and dinner and a lot of snacks!
Get the locker, or two! It’s a $10 deposit and then you get $5 returned to you per locker. This was a huge help in keeping valuables locked up and anything else we wanted. We were able to go in and out of the locker as needed. There are also a few other things you can rent while there, such as chairs and umbrellas which can help in making a home base for everyone in your group.
We did go on one bigger slide. We will not be going on it ever again with smaller kids. There is a heigh restriction on it and our youngest met this limit, we would not take either of our kids on it again. As an adult it actually worried me to be going down it with how high the tube went up the sides. If you’re a thrill seeker, you’d love it, instead… we’re sticking to the Adventure River. It was much more our style. The main point is though, that you know your kids and to trust your gut for if you think they will or will not enjoy something.
IT WAS A FUN DAY FOR EVERYONE
All around we had a great time cooling down at the waterpark after being stuck in weekend traffic. We needed it! The girls are asking if we can go back. We’re not 100% sure if we can make it happen this summer, but maybe. There really was something for everyone in the family to enjoy while there. The girls had permanent smiles on their faces, which only got bigger after their Dad got them a waffle cone with ice cream to enjoy at the end of the day. PS: their ice cream is amazing!
If you are thinking of going out to a waterpark this summer, be sure to bring a waterproof case for your cell phone. It’s how we got all these photos. Sure they may be a little blurry at times, but it helped to capture some fun memories.
