I recently received a copy of “A Wrinkle in Time” and “Peter Pan”. I just keep adding to our Disney movie collection, what can I say. Now, I don’t actually recall reading A Wrinkle in Time in school, one of my sisters does, but I don’t. This is one of the first times where I am watching a movie before I’ve read the book. Peter Pan is a classic in our home. The girls even went as characters from the film this past Halloween. When we go to Disneyland, Peter Pan’s Flight is always the first ride we go on. I’m excited to share my thoughts on these movies. Plus, you’ll want to head over to Facebook to enter our giveaway.
A WRINKLE IN TIME
Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling and breakout star Storm Reid are all in this movie. Their characters take viewers on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery. This one is out just in time for summer break with it being available as of May 29 on Digital HD and June 5 on Blu-ray™, DVD and On-Demand. It is a stunning story of an ordinary girl’s extraordinary adventure through time and space. Offering exhilarating entertainment and positive messages for the whole family—encouraging self-confidence, inclusion and pushing imagination to the next level.
This is one I watched on my own, as I felt my girls are a bit too young for it. I do think they will enjoy it when they are older. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. It got my attention though, especially once I realized that it involved a tesseract. It was an interesting storyline to follow, and while Oprah may not be my favorite actress, I still enjoyed this. I do need to go read the book now so I can compare. I did love that there was a focus on imagination which is something I feel many kids are missing today.
PETER PAN
This movie is celebrating its 65th anniversary and it’s loved by many Disney fans. It has joined the highly celebrated Walt Disney Signature Collection and started landing in homes on Digital and Movies Anywhere on May 29 and on Blu-ray June 5. With a little faith, trust and pixie dust, everyone in the family can let their imagination soar while watching this epic adventure to Never Land, sparkling with legendary animation, extraordinary music and all-new and classic bonus features.
The girls and I noticed right away the improvement to the animation. While there’s something fun about watching old VHS tapes, it’s amazing watching this edition and how crisp the images area. My kids are always into this movie as soon as it starts, often requestions to wear their fairy wings so that they can learn how to fly. I love how this movie fills their imagination with adventure. I love hearing them ask questions like “Why is their nana a dog?”. This is a classic for family movie night, a must watch in our books.

Haha my kids ask how a dog can be a nana too! 😂 I love Peter Pan. It was one of my favourites as a kid. I think I may even have had a crush on Peter 😆…(of course this is before I quickly discovered that Prince Eric is the hottest Disney character). In the new version, do they modify the scene with the “Indians” and how they are singing about “what makes the red man red?” Or delete it? It wasn’t off-putting to me as a kid but now the racist undertones of that whole scene makes me wince 😖
