This weekend we are off. Off to one of our favourite places; Anvil Island. We are volunteering for a week at the camp there. Being there also means a break from cell phones, computers, and social media. It’s needed and honestly, we’re looking forward to being disconnected from everything. With school wrapping up this week we have been reminded and I hope you also don’t forget to enjoy summer with your family!
Put the phone down.
Put the computer away.
Turn the TV off.
Go make some memories together as a family. Ones that you won’t be sharing on social media. You know the kind, ones that only you and your kids will remember forever. Go watch the sunset at the beach while the waves crash to shore and cover your feet. Watch your kids run around the yard, or at the park and play on the playground.
Yes, many of us still have to work during these summer months, but you can still take time to be together as a family. Little things like picnics outside or building a fort in the living room. Let your kids stay up past bedtime, just once, because you decided to take a drive out of the city so you can see the stars fill the night sky.
The post that has made its way around again about how you only have 18 summers with your kid. This is our 6th summer with our oldest and 3rd summer with our youngest. It already feels like time passes so quickly with having kids add in the few summers that you have with them and this mama had to go grab a box of tissues.
As summer is set to start, please don’t forget to enjoy summer with your family. That’s what we plan to do!
