We got some very fun mail the other day thanks to Walt Disney Studios. Dumbo and Cinderella: Anniversary Edition are available now on Blu-ray™ and DVD. There is no hiding that my family loves Disney movies. We especially love a good Disney movie night in this house. With it being summer vacation, I am thrilled to add these two to our playlist.
CINDERELLA: ANNIVERSARY EDITION
I had no idea that I wanted an update to the classic Cinderella. As soon as we put the Blu-ray™ into the player we could see the difference! You cannot miss the digital restoration that has been done to all of the artwork. They have worked hard to remove the grainy look and bring back the beautiful colouring that could be seen in the original animation cells. Even my kids noticed how much better everything looked! The Cinderella: Anniversary Edition will capture you with its bright colours and you’ll see all sorts of detail in the artwork that you may have missed before.
There are a lot of bonuses packed into this release, some of which have been carried over from the Diamon Edition. There are two new things that have been added. If you love Cinderella as much as I do, you’ll definitely want to watch In Walt’s Words: The Envisioning of Cinderella. It takes you through the movie adding in concept art, storyboards, and all sorts of other information that will help you gain more insight into the creation of Cinderella.
DUMBO
We had the opportunity to attend the screening for Dumbo when it was released to theatres. You can head over to that blog post to read our original thoughts on the movie and some things you should know before watching. With the movie now being available on Blu-ray™ I was intrigued to see what they have added to it.
One thing I noticed almost immediately with Dumbo, was the many nods made to the classic animated version. I love when Disney hides Easter eggs in its films. Another favourite is also included; bloopers! What is it about bloopers that we love so much? Maybe it’s the fact that it helps us to appreciate all of the work that went into creating it. There’s a lot more packed into this Blu-ray™ and DVD release, you’ll surely learn much more about the production of the film.
Dumbo truly is a grand, live-action movie. They took an animated film and created something with a bigger, more heartfelt story. You’ll definitely enjoy it for a movie night option!

I have been wanting to see Dumbo and watch with my grandson. Cinderella is also a must own for any Disney fan. I love how the live actions are coming out. It brings a whole new spin and light to them as if you are watching for the first time, yet, find yourself looking for little changes they make or additions. Thank you for the chance! Cinderella has always been special to me, we haven’t seen dumbo yet as we were in Disney world during the release and with all that excitement we just missed out on it! I’d love to share both with my kids and add to our Disney dvd library.
