DON’T FORGET YOUR EASTER BASKET
Prepare for the photo overload, which I am not apologizing for! I created this blog as a way of saving memories and that is exactly what I plan to do with this post. Sharing some of what we got up to when we visited Taves Family Farms over the Easter weekend. We love visiting this farm as a family and tend to go a couple of times each year, visiting at Easter and going for the egg hunt has become a highlight for the kids.
This year we went ready for the weather. We just weren’t sure what the weather was going to be like, which meant wearing boots and bringing rain gear just in case. It had rained overnight and the sky looked like it was going to dump rain.
ON A MISSION TO FIND THE EGGS
Easter egg hunts can either be fun or totally ruthless leaving many in tears. Thankfully Taves has this figured out and everyone leaves with something. You take a tractor ride out to the field. Each child is asked to find ten Easter eggs; 5 sets of two of the same colour. Evie actually remembered the rules from last year and was ready to go. Addie did much better this year, holding her own and finding the eggs hidden in the field.
After finding their ten eggs, the girls showed the staff member and they traded the eggs for a goody bag. Both girls picked one that had some treats and a small stuffy in it; a lamb and a duck came home with us. Taves had also hidden a ceramic bunny somewhere throughout the whole farm for a guest to find and exchange for a chocolate bunny. We had no luck finding that, but we still had a great time wandering around. There was also a treat trail to complete where you went to different stops and got some extra treats.
GETTING ALL OF THEIR ENERGY OUT
Thankfully the rain stayed away during our whole visit. The girls were actually able to get rid of some layers. So glad I brought my larger backpack to carry everything in. We love visiting this farm because there is plenty to keep the girls busy and get all of their energy out. The girls went to on the slides, jumping pillow, pedal kart, and so much more. They even tried out the blossom blaster which launched a tennis ball out towards some flower shaped targets.
Be sure to take some time and wander through the orchards. When we went the apple trees were just starting to blossom and they are beautiful! It’s a huge part of why I love Spring time so much, all of the blossoms everywhere. My allergies hate it, but that’s why I take allergy meds daily this time of year.
A continuing tradition for us is to also get some apple slushies before we go home. After all their playing the girls needed a little something, and this always hits the spot. I am currently regretting not grabbing a jug of their cider, it just means we need to go visit again soon.
