We are just a little excited that Fall is around the corner. We are ready for cooler weather and for the leaves to change colour. With that, it also means playing inside and needing things for the kids to do. We recently added a new game and book to our collection and wanted to share with all of you. You may even immediately recognize the one.
Finding puzzles that are simple but interesting for younger kids can be hard so I was thrilled to see the Animal Friends on Parade Puzzle. This puzzle is unique with its 12 pieces that are double-sided.Each one depicts animals from different habitats. You’ll find animal friends from all around the globe on each piece.
Each puzzle piece depicts animals from different habitats. You’ll find animal friends from all around the globe on each piece. From the farm to the Arctic, there are all sorts of animals shown in the artwork by Junzo Terada.
Every time the girls have worked together to put this puzzle together it’s been in a different order with only the beginning and the end being the same for each direction the parade travels in. I appreciate that the pieces are not hard to put together, my almost 2-year-old has had no issue with putting the puzzle together on her own.
This is the one I suspected some of you may recognize. Say Zoop! by Herve Tullet. Many parents already know of author Herve Tulle thanks to great books like Press Here and Mix It Up!
My girls were in fits of giggles as we read our way through this book. It’s written to get everyone interacting and making some noise. A lot of noise actually. You might not want to read this one at bedtime. Made that mistake once, took awhile for the girls to settle down.
This is a book all about having fun as you read it and letting the imagination of children run wild. Herve Tullet’s books introduced us to the genre of participatory books that we’ve come to love as a family.
Get ready to be asked to read this book a hundred times over and follow the journey of the colourful dots.
