This post is not going to be anything super fancy or special to others. It’s simply all about what we got up to this weekend, the Family Day long weekend. I want to remember the little moments. The way the girls were from tiny pigtails to freckles covering noses. Weekends like this I hope to have forever engrained in my memory.
Since we were test driving a vehicle for the week, we decided to go take it on a mini adventure and head to Vancouver. We ended up in West Vancouver at Ambleside Park. We hadn’t been to this section of the park, and we’re all hoping to go back again once the weather warms up. It was freaking cold outside, but the girls loved watching the larger tanker ships go under the bridge and tossing rocks into the water.
The nice thing about going into Vancouver is that there are so many options for food. My husband quickly agreed that we should go to a favourite of ours; Rocky Mountain Flatbread. It never disappoints.
The girls have been asking if they could go to the Honeybee Centre for a very long time and we finally made it happen. It’s definitely changed inside there since the last time we’d gone. The girls loved checking out all the different displays, including a giant bee that made it feel like Honey, I Shrunk The Kids. We left with three new jars of honey and the girls each picked out three honey sticks.
We wrapped up the weekend with some free skating on Family Day. A few of the local rinks were offering free family skate times. The one nearest to us had a Hawaiian theme, which somehow we missed the memo on. Our oldest has been skating a couple times now thanks to school. Our youngest was like Bambi on ice. This was her second time ever trying to skate.
My husband made one last pitstop after we had dropped off the test-drive vehicle. We surprised the girl with getting some donuts as a very special treat.
HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND OR FAMILY DAY LONG WEEKEND?
