Today was Family Day here in BC. It was oh so needed. Jason actually forgot that I did not work today, and when I reminded him last night he pretty much did a happy dance. Some weekends just do not feel long enough, so three day weekends are always welcomed. We actually felt like we were not rushing every where for once. We decided last night that we wanted to head to the beach. We didn’t check what the tide levels were until this morning, and low tide wasn’t going to be until the afternoon. Jason had to work this afternoon so that was not going to work for us. We still decided to head to White rock. I had messaged my mom the night before to let her know we were planning on heading to the beach. She and my dad joined us there. Evie was thrilled to get to see them, especially since Grammie-Poo had been away for a bit. Despite the grey skies, and bit of rain, we still had a nice stroll along White Rock Pier. I am so thankful that we have a Muddy Buddy for Evie. Seriously, if you do not have one for your younger kids, I highly recommend it. It covers her pretty much from head to toe, and we pull the leg openings over her boots to help keep water out of her boots. She was able to wade through the puddles, and splash to her hearts content. The highlights though of our time at the beach today was getting to see two trains go by, and a bird pooping. We kept hearing “A birdie pooped!” and “Baby sea gull e pooped!” … someone is definitely nearing potty training. I am definitely thankful that BC has added this holiday to it’s calendar. It was such a long stretch before going from Christmas and New Years, to Easter. This was needed. I am definitely looking forward to Family Day each year now, I think some new traditions are going to come out of it. Perhaps another holiday to have a family picnic outside in the rain? We will see. Hope you all had a great Monday whether you were at work, stayed at home, or got out and about this Family Day. If you did get up to something as a family today, what did you do?

I have an aunt and uncle that live in White Rock and a daughter that lives in Vancouver, but I’ve not made it to White Rock! One day I shall get there. It looks really beautiful!
