There’s something about Easter weekend that brings back all sorts of memories from my childhood. It’s a holiday that means a lot to us as a family. This weekend, we were incredibly thankful to get to spend it together. It was all about family moments, especially with Jason being home from the hospital. One thing we got to do was head out to Taves Easter Fest.
I actually teared up a little bit with all the memories we have going to Taves. We’ve been visiting there since Evie was a baby. Now, here we are as a family of four. It’s become a place that is very special to us. We love that they have added some Easter fun to their farm. The girls reminded us as soon as they woke up in the morning that we were going and that they needed their baskets because they were going on an egg hunt.
TIME TO HOP LIKE A BUNNY
Whenever we got to Taves, we always try to arrive early. Preferably for the opening. That parking lot can get a little busy and sometimes there is a little line to get in at the ticket booth. Going early, means we are able to avoid all of this. Plus it gave the girls plenty of time to go hop like a bunny on the jumping pillows. They also got in several rides down the slide before the hayride came to pick us up and head out to the orchard for the egg hunt.
GOING ON AN EASTER EGG HUNT
The eggs were hidden out in the apple orchard and we all got to enjoy a hayride out there. We also got to see some of our friends and fellow bloggers who were also there. Thankfully, Taves thought about how sometimes egg hunts can be more like the Hunger Games when it comes to kids going for all the eggs. Instead, the kids were given directions that they were to find twelve eggs in six colours. So they needed two eggs of each colour.
Simple enough. The younger kids were helped out by their older siblings. The eggs were also empty! Once the kids found all the eggs they needed they went back to the entry and were able to exchange the eggs for a goody bag. Brilliant. No tears or sad little ones from not finding any eggs. Everyone received a little treat and prize. The girls each picked a little bunny stuffy that has since found prized places in their rooms. They won’t let the bunnies out of their sight.
FAVOURITE FAMILY MOMENT
The girls each got to ride a pony. For Addie, this was her first time ever on one. Evie had gotten to ride before at a Christmas event we went to. Both of them were incredibly excited. Addie has been all about horses for ages so this was her big moment and dream come true. Even with the pony having a bit of a scare from the corn gun going off for the first time that season, she did great! I couldn’t be more proud of both of the girls and their love for animals. I hope it’s something that stays with them.
We needed this little adventure together as a family. With everything that has happened, we’ve done our best to try and keep some normality in our lives. Sure things like this can be hard with Jason’s immune system still being down and it being tiring (bonus it did exhaust the girls too!), it was nice to get out and have some fun together as a family. We left having had a lot of fun, and we sure hope that Taves has Easter Fest again next year.
