PETER IS BACK
In PETER RABBIT™ 2, the lovable rogue is back. Bea, Thomas, and the rabbits have created a makeshift family, but despite his best efforts, Peter can’t seem to shake his mischievous reputation. Adventuring out of the garden, Peter finds himself in a world where his mischief is appreciated, but when his family risks everything to come looking for him, Peter must figure out what kind of bunny he wants to be.
OUR THOUGHTS FOR FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
In the second Peter Rabbit film, Bea and Thomas are getting married and extending the business. Peter is still questioning Thomas and not feeling like he belongs. Watching the film there are all sorts of opportunities to discuss topics like is being mischievous beneficial to Peter? Did Bea feel like she had to change her work in order for it to be great? Is every family the exact same or do they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes? Of course, ask your kids classic questions like who their favourite character is and why? You see lots of different characters from the classic Beatrix Potter books.
A WHOLE LOT OF MISCHIEF
Similar to the first movie where we were introduced to Peter and his mischievous ways, this continues in this film. This continues in the second film and the slapstick violence may not be for everyone. Some moments that slapstick violence does involve the animals and though they may be animated some may not be okay with this. Some of the characters act and look mean, this can be frightening for younger viewers. If your little one is sensitive to things like this do keep this in mind. My middle daughter is and ended up leaving the room several times, which is something she is very good about.
All AROUND WE ENJOYED IT
My oldest daughter and youngest both found some of the slapstick moments. There is a scene involving brooms that had them both laughing. They were also both very intrigued by some of the new characters presented in this film. I don’t want to say too much for fear of giving away anything.
While Peter may cause some problems there are definitely lessons to be learned through the movie. Such as how to be a responsible pet owner, that as families getting bigger there is always enough love for everyone, that the love does not become any less. There are several more. This movie definitely brings up a lot of things you can discuss with your kids.
While this movie may not be true to the stories and the computer graphics may be very apparent for the animated animals (which is very hard to do anyways combining live actions and animation), it presents a storyline in a unique way making it simple entertainment. It’s cute and energetic all the way through. If you’re looking for a movie for family movie night and have a range of ages, this may be just what you are looking for. Peter Rabbit 2 is available to rent at home across Canada. It’s also still in theatres where theatres are now open.
Thank you to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for giving us the opportunity to screen Peter Rabbit 2 at home.

Thank you for sharing the mischief part. It’s something I’m weary about when watching with young ones.

This is why we love reviewing movies! I want to know if a movie will be appropriate for my littles and hopefully it will help others deciding as well.

Thanks for this perspective. We try to do what we can in terms of knowing what to expect for kiddo before she watches something.
