We’re going to DISNEYLAND!!!!
NO ONE SAY A THING TO EVIE!
I am going to have a very difficult time keeping this from Evie myself, but what a fun secret and surprise right? Since the day we got on the plane to go home, after our first ever trip to Disneyland, she has been asking when we will be getting to go back. I want to tell her so badly, but I also cannot wait to see the look on her face when she finds out.
We are not planning to tell her until the day we leave. We will either tell her in the car on the way there, or wait til we pull up to the airport. She is going to be so excited, and possibly freak out. Anytime Evie earns a little bit of money she puts it in her piggy bank, and reminds me that all her money is for going to being able to go to Disneyland again. Little does she know we will soon be back there. This time my parental units are coming as well! It will be their first time in Disneyland, and of course Addie’s. This is going to be one fun family vacation.
The dream that you wish will come true indeed! I have dreamt of going to Disneyland with my family since I was a child, and now I am getting to go with them. Childhood dreams are coming true! I may have cried when my parents said yes to coming. Tears of joy. Evie actually came running into the kitchen to give me a hug saying “Mommy don’t cry, don’t be sad.” and we were trying to explain they were happy tears, without giving it all away. I cried waiting to go into Disneyland for the first time, I will likely cry again this time.
There are so many things I am already looking forward to…
- Seeing both of our girls see all the characters
- Getting photos of our family in front of the castle
- Bring on the rides!
- Enjoying a pretzel shaped like Mickey Mouse’s face
- The different shows, and hopefully a night of fireworks
- Making memories as a family
- The expressions on my girls faces!
The list goes on, and on. I am also making plans already, and I have notes all over the place. Including a window on my computer with way too many tabs open. Last time we went, each day we had a goal of getting to certain rides, and attractions before noon. Anything after that was bonus. When we went, it was also the most busy time of the year. While I’m not entirely sure what the crowds will be like this time, from the different things I have heard and read it should be significantly less crowded. I figure if we can manage Disneyland at Christmas time and have a great time, we will enjoy this trip immensely.
We do have our fingers crossed that Evie will grow about another inch before the trip. I am counting on a Summer growth spurt. She is so near to the 40 inch mark, which opens up so many more ride possibilities for her. I love the sassy photo of her we have from the first trip when we went to ride Autopia, and she had to have her height checked. She just made it to 32 inches, and gave this funny “take that” look at the sign for measuring heights. Fingers crossed she grows that inch!
Evie the other day informed me that when she goes back to Disneyland the very first ride she wants to go on is Dumbo. Soon little love, very soon you will get to fly high, up in the sky with Dumbo again!

How wonderful. We surprised our kids with a Disney vacation too. And I’m glad we did – because the lead up to them just getting something in the mail is unbearable with the “is it here yet?”

Oh this is so cute! I had a student who’s parents told him he was going to the dentist and then took him to Disney. I can’t wait to surprise my daughter just like this one day!

Have her wear boots, inch made. 🙂 We had my son wear his cowboy boots when he was close to height restrictions to get him there.
