We kept father’s day weekend really simple this year with a lot of family time. On Saturday morning we headed down to Vancouver so that Jason could check out Fly Over Canada. Before his flight we investigated the two very large cruise ships. Evie now really wants to go on a cruise so she can really see a large boat. Don’t worry kiddo, mom and dad have a Disney cruise on our to do list. Jason really enjoyed Fly Over Canada, he just wished it was longer. We also headed to our jewelers to have our rings checked since it’s been 5 years since we got them. Jason’s was left to be rebrushed and it needed a bit of attention. Mine apparently still looks new. In the afternoon we headed to Red Robins for an early dinner. It’s seriously our favorite place to go for a family dinner out. The kids meals are great and Jason and I often share a meal. Jason greatly enjoyed the burger he got. Happy daddy! After Evie and Jason decided to wash the car. It was a great way for Evie to cool down before bed and get to spend time with her dad. I love that he takes the time to do things like this with her.
On Sunday we started the day bright and early and headed to Fort Langley for a MEC race series event. Jason decided to take part in the 5k as he signed up a bit last minute and didn’t have long to train. We cheered him on from the start and finish line. Evie spotted daddy’s bright green shorts first. With one last push of energy Jason tied for first place. We were so proud of him! Now Evie is wanting to get to take part and run, next time Jason may have to take the jogger. We wrapped up the day playing in the front yard. Jason put together a bbq dinner, and Evie decided she wanted to be a super hero. No idea where that came from but I was able to put together a DIY cape by tucking her towel into her swimsuit straps. She was happy. It was a great, pretty mellow weekend.
