For the first time in years we were at home on Canada Day. Normally we are away volunteering at Anvil when this day rolls around. Sure we do celebrate while there, it was nice to get to check out something local and celebrate with the girls.
We went to the celebrations here in Cloverdale. It was the perfect price for us… free! Free to park, and free to explore. There were some things that did cost money, such as food from any of the food trucks that were there, and going on the rides. We kept it simple and just explored what was offered free of charge.
Evie was a little apprehensive at first to explore the fire truck. I think she was a bit intimidated by the firefighters standing near it. One quickly started a little conversation with her though when he noticed her Minnie Mouse vest and commented that his daughter had the same one. We ended up making a stop back here on our way out to head home so that she could go back to the fire truck.
I was pleasantly surprised at what was available to do there. There was a toddler zone with music, and activities. Evie had her face painted, and did some crafts. We even got to decorate sunglasses, Evie of course wanted all pink. There were games at different booths. The giant connect four was awesome. I think the huge hit though was the Canada-themed mini golf course.
While we only stayed for an hour and a half, by the time we left it was getting a bit crowded and the girls were done. Addie actually fell asleep on the walk back to the car. If we are ever in town again for Canada Day we will definitely check out another local event.
