Our sweet baby girl is 16 months old.
She is 22.4 lbs and around 30 inches tall (need to measure her again)
She is wearing mostly 18 month sizes for clothing, but the odd 12 month, and even some 2T pieces fit her. Oh the joys of the differences between stores and the fit of clothing. She has just started to wear a size 5 shoe, but still fits several of her size 4 shoes. She’s still so little in our eyes.
Words she can say now include: Mama, Dada, “butt” for boot, “oggie” or “og” for dog, and kitty, book, more, “duh-dye” for bye bye, “ah done” for all done, what ‘at? There are more but I can’t think of them right now. We’ve had the odd moment too where sentences have come out of her leaving us stunned. At church one day we were getting ready to go home and she said “Dada ‘ets go” = Dada let’s go. Seems she was done and wanted to get home.
Her favourite activities are getting to go and play outside or out for walks. If we put her shoes on her feet, we better be heading out the door very quickly, and heaven help us if we bring her back inside before she is done being outside. She loves playing with her little wooden kitchen, and her baby doll. She has recently figured out how to pass a ball back and forth with people. She also rides on her rocking horse like a crazy lady, nearly causing it to tip over. This kid has no fear it seems.
Her least favourite activities would be getting ready for bed. She does not seem to like that all the fun of the day has to come to an end. Sadly our bedtime routine is currently filled with some tears. We hope that changes soon, but really anything that causes her to have to be still she does not like. So diaper changes, and being put into her car seat or high chair are in this list too.
We love hearing her little voice, she is constantly babbling lately. She also has some crazy dance skills, she definitely got those from her Dad, and Mama has no coordination. She still loves to twirl, and has some serious wiggle abilities. It amazes us to see just how much she really understands now when we talk to her. Everything from simple directions like “Evie, put your toys back in the box” to questions like “Where is your baby doll? Is it on the couch?” and she will go over and look for it and bring back her baby doll. If you ask her where her eyes or belly button are she will point to them. We are also very thankful for how great of a sleeper she is, and we are praying it continues. She currently sleeps from about 6:30pm to 7am (sometimes a little later if Mommy and Daddy need to sleep in) and she has transitioned to one nap a day smoothly.
She is growing up way too quickly, but we are loving this current age that is so full of personality and curiosity.
