Halloween is just around the corner. While things may be a little different this year, FlyOver Canada is still bringing some fun to its ride with HowlOver Canada. It’s happening now until November 1st and is a great option if you are looking for a fun, but physically distanced activity.
We recently had the opportunity for the girls to dress up in costumes and check out HowlOver Canada. They decided to each be a princess and I was told I had to wear my Mickey Mouse Halloween shirt. It’s always a fun experience getting to feel what it would be like to soar above Canada. Add in a festive twist and it makes it all the more exciting.
FlyOver Canada recently re-opened with new Covid-19 measures in place to ensure a good time and safety for everyone who visits. We noticed the changes immediately, from hand sanitizing stations both inside and outside of the ride, to different procedures for getting tickets, as well as markers on the ground for keeping your distance. The biggest change is how everyone is loaded into the viewing area and onto the ride with reduced guest capacity. Each group had their own section on the ride, which meant no one else immediately beside you. Everything is also fully sanitized before the next group goes on.
Now, it was my friend Tara of BC Mom, who brought it to my attention that the film’s creative director (Rick Rothchild) and animation director (George Scribner) are both previous Imagineers from The Walt Disney Company. Having been to Disneyland and knowing our love for Disney animations this just added an extra little something and brought a little bit of Disney magic here locally.
The show itself includes footage from across Canada with a Fall feel. Our girls loved being up in the air and feeling like they were flying through the clouds. Even noticing that the smell in the room would change. As for the HowlOver Canada part itself, you are following Biker Mama on her flight across the country as they are on their way to a music festival in a forest. The music festival scene is towards the end, now, if your children are at all sensitive to things that may be considered frightening this part may worry them. There is a large haunted house that is very dark and spooky looking. A quick reminder to my kiddo that they were going to a music party and she was fine. Thankfully this portion was also very quick.
The ride itself is a total of 8 minutes. For now, I continue to dream of this being a little bit longer of a flight. Maybe one day? I just don’t want the ride to end.
After your flight, you will exit out into the gift shop. This year, FlyOver Canada has all sorts of Halloween themed items available. There are stickers, candy, and even mugs with the different characters on it. We continued on to the Flying Whale Cafe where we got to enjoy a Ghostie’s Hot Chocolate and some Biker Mama’s Witches Brew. If you need to fill your tummy, we highly recommend getting the pumpkin loaf! It is fantastic and we are regretting not getting another piece or two to take home and enjoy later.

What fun! FlyOver Canada is always great… but a Halloween edition sounds even better.
