Thank you Pinterest Land for all your different ideas for inducing labour. While I didn’t try many, I had a few saved just in case I went overdue with our second daughter. I did however try a labour inducing cookie recipe. After reading several of them, I pieced them together into my own version. While I cannot say if these did in fact kick start my labour (I had made them two nights before and had two cookies each night), I can tell you that they taste amazing! Like a spicy version of a soft ginger snap cookie. Dare I say, I almost prefer them over the traditional recipe I use for ginger snap cookies.
So in case there are any other expecting mama’s looking to try these, or you just love the spice of a good ginger cookie, here is the recipe for all of you.
- 1 1/4 cups plain flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp molasses
- 1 egg white
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, salt and cayenne pepper in a bowl, and set aside.
- Blend together the butter, and sugars in the mixer mixing bowl. Add in the molasses and egg white. Mix together until combined.
- Add the dry ingredients to the mix that you had set aside.
- Use a melon baller to make 1 inch balls out of the cookie dough.
- Roll the cookie balls in some granulated sugar.
- Place the cookies on a lined baking tray, an inch or so apart.
- Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown.
