We have had a very rough go the past little while and it all just came crashing down on Wednesday. Thursday we decided was going to be a good day. We handed all our stresses and worries over to God and told Him to deal with it all. We kept saying “Today is going to be a good day!”
Jason dropped me off at work in the morning. Poor guy had to get up after only having maybe 6 hours of sleep, he is still working permanent evenings. He had put the stroller into the car and decided that he was going to take Evie to the park. Green Timbers Urban Forest is a great little green space tucked away in the city. Hidden in the middle is a large pond that you get to walk around, and there is plenty of opportunity to see ducks and chipmunks. Jason didn’t need the stroller because Evie wanted to walk, and walk she did. The ventured all over the park. The highlight for her though was seeing the ducks. She got very upset when Daddy said it was time to leave. She could be heard saying “Bye bye ducks” through sobs and massive tears. This girl loves the outdoors, but she loves animals even more.
My sweet little duo came and picked me up from work in the afternoon after they both enjoyed a much needed nap. I wanted to do something special with Evie, I decided it was time to let her help out with some baking. She always likes to watch, but I wondered what she would do if I let her help out.
I pulled up her highchair, and flipped the tray over so that she could use it as a stool to stand on by the island. She helped put in all of the ingredients. She was a little unsure of the blender when it was turned on, but soon was okay with the noise. She was thrilled to be getting to help with cookies. The only mess we had was when she decided to sprinkle some of the cinnamon sugar mixture onto the floor. We were making snickerdoodle cookies. She soon forgot about this when she realized how yummy the dough was and took a little nibble. The best part though was letting her put the cookies onto the baking sheets. Instead of her usual dainty ways, she threw them onto the sheet. Sure it’s not the traditional way, and yes it made the cookies some odd shapes, but who cares. Evie was getting to help and she was making cookies for the first time.
Little moments… always cherished, always to be remembered. We needed this day full of happy moments. Today was a good day!
