MUSHYBOOKS

With Evie’s arrival I looked, and looked for a baby book that I loved. I never found one that was exactly what I wanted, and ended up settling on a white and pink polkadot book. Sure things are filled out in it, but I still was not happy.
I cannot remember who put Mushybooks on my radar, but I am so glad they did. Finally, baby books that are modern, and beautiful. Mushybooks was what I had been looking for!
Lesley is the brilliant creator of Mushybooks. She lives in Mapler Ridge, BC with her husband, and their three kiddos. After having gone through three ugly baby books herself, and realizing that many parents did not like the baby books they had for their kids, she saw the need for something beautiful to be made available. Parents wanted baby books that were crisp, and clean. With just a touch of fun style to them.
I love that the pages of the Mushybook have prompts for what to write, but that they keep things simple too. It makes writing in the baby book so much easier. You are taken through all the stages of your little ones life. There is space for everything from when you found out that you were expecting to their first year. Want to expand the book even more? There are extra pages available… baby shower, toddler pages, NICU pages. So many great options to help you personalize the book even more for your little one.
To be honest I was a little bit worried about starting to write in the Mushybook. What happened if I messed up? What type of pen should I be using to document all the events into it? Lesley again has you covered!
She recently did a blog post on the best pens for your Mushybook. I may have been bugging her to do this post, as I was so intimidated to start writing and end up not liking the pen I was using. Lesley tried out a bunch of pens, and lets you know her top pick. The favourite for her was the Sakura Micron 01. This pen is available in a three pack at local art stores, and at craft stores. I was able to get the packages of pens with a coupon. To make sure you really have no fear about whatever pen you decide to use there is even a tester page included with the books! – Thank you!
I am also thankful that she provides the option to get replacement pages if you do make a mistake… hello baby brain, and new mom brain. Mistakes happen. I will be ordering a replacement as I did goof on one page. No need to cover the mistake with a strategically places sticker or washi tape. I will just redo that page when the replacement arrives.
The one thing I will be doing is changing my photos to square prints so that I can fit more in. I have found that my usual 4×6 are a bit too bit for my liking, plus I just have so many photos I am having a very hard time picking just a couple to put in if I use a larger photo. I want to get as many cute photos in there as possible so that my girls can look back and see how they changes over the months, and it will help me to always remember that first year too.
There are multiple beautiful Mushbooks to pick from, you really cannot go wrong with whatever one you select to document your child’s life. I fell in love with their books so much, that I actually got two. One for our oldest, Evie, and one for Addie. That’s right I am actually redoing all of Evie’s baby book. Things are getting pulled out and put into the book I love for her!
I picked out Dreamcatcher, and Into The Wild for my girls. I love that both have a black and white colour theme so they go together, but are different. For Into The Wild, Mushybooks teamed up with The Wild. This book features their original drawings of different animals, and nature. It’s ridiculously cute. The Dreamcatcher book has feathers, dandelion puffs, and geometric patterns throughout. It’s a perfectly dreamy book.
I absolutely adore Mushybooks. These baby books will be featured proudly on the book shelves in both of my girls rooms. This way we can pull them out any time, and flip through them together.
Mushybooks has very kindly provided the opportunity for one reader of Discovering Parenthood to get to select a book of their very own! This is a great chance to win a baby book, perhaps you have already been eyeing up a Mushybook? Maybe you are in need of a baby shower gift, you cannot go wrong with one of these!
Good luck to everyone who enters!
