The Sweet Life Apparel & Gifts is a local, Coquitlam based business that is owned and operated by the very sweet Jennifer. Her business came about while she was on maternity leave with her second child. Now she is a girl who takes after my own heart and has a passion for baking, and dreams about cakes. Add in the inspiration she gets from her own two kids and she became a mompreneur.
Jennifer uses tees and onesies from American Apparel and Bella + Canvas, the best part about doing this is that they are made in sweatshop free factories in LA. This is something that I’ve been looking into more and more for where businesses get their products from. She comes up with all of her designs at home here in BC, and has the shirts printed in Vancouver. I really appreciate that she is keeping everything as close to home as possible.
I recently got to meet Jennifer in person at a local mompreneur meet up, and she is incredibly sweet in person, and I love her designs for her tees. I fell in love with the Better Than a Bakers Dozen Raglan and the Cakelet Long-Sleeved Body Suit. As someone who has a passion for baking cakes, and cupcakes with my oldest, and I hope my youngest will enjoy baking with me too when she is older, these shirts were perfect. Plus what Canadian does not have a love for donuts? There is a little donut picture on the bakers dozen shirt. I love the sass behind this print, it’s perfect for my oldest. I would have never thought to call my baby a Cakelet, but now that I’ve seen this it is the perfect title for my little love.
I decided to go up in size for both of my girls so that I could have them wearing the shirts as long as possible. Doing this, the items do fit a bit bigger, but I would say true to size for their labels. If I had gone with their current sizes the items would have been spot on for fit. The fabric of both is really nice and soft, and washes very well.
There are lots of other great products from The Sweet Life. I can picture my girls in the Peachy Keen shirts this summer, and anyone with kids can relate to the #TEAMNOSLEEP raglans. I can especially relate to that one right now as my oldest is not wanting to sleep, and my youngest is going through the 4 month sleep regression. Jennifer’s items are spot on for things you can relate to, especially if you have fans of cake and all things sweet in your house.
