Evie has been around a potty since she was little. We weren’t extreme in doing elimination communication, but she did use it before and after naps and before bedtime. Recently she has wanted nothing to do with it.
I am currently looking into potty training tips and how to. How did you go about potty training your kids? Please send tips and advice my way.
The one thing I did do was pick up some books to read to Evie. She loves them and was asking for big girl underwear after. I’m hoping come spring break or summer that she will be ready for this.

Ah, potty training. Not my favorite parenting endeavor. We got sticker chart for each of us and made a huge deal whenever we went. One sticker for per, two for poo. A dance party for both. It is the only thing that finally got my stubborn girl to pee on the potty! Good luck!!

We have four children who are now four years-old. The biggest thing I learned is that they are ready on their timeline, which may not be the timeline we as parents had in mind. Ours all completed at a different pace from age 2 to almost 4. We did like the “Potty Power” dvd as a resource though.

Potty training is the one thing in parenting I looked forward to with trepidation. It scared me a little. I am not into all the different “meathods” for everything out there, preferring to do things the way that makes sense to me. But with this I had no clue where to start! The good thing is that once I did start, it came together quite naturally.
We had been putting calvin on the toilet to go pee before bed since he was 2ish, so he was used to the idea. I wanted to have him potty trained by christmas, so I tackled it in November. He was 2.5 at the time.
Calvin doesn’t get excited about stuff so stickers or new “big boy underwear” would do nothing for him. I just had to get to it. I chose a day when we were home all day and put him on the toilet every 20 minutes or so. He peed every time and also had some accidents between. The next day he was already able to hold it for a couple hours! It took about a week before there were zero accidents at all, but I’d say he was potty trained after day 3. Poo took about a week though.
Now he always tells me when he has to go. He still wears diapers at night. Although he is waking up dryer and dryer and time goes on.
