There’s no need to have a fire in order to make s’mores. We’ve made a Fire Ban S’mores before, this is a different way to make this yummy treat. No more worrying about the fact that the kids are near a fire, that they are holding a stick and trying to poke others with it, or the kids setting their marshmallow on fire.
Using your oven means that the s’mores will come out near-perfect every time! I never thought to make them this way until I started volunteering in the kitchen at Anvil. This is how we make s’mores for over 100 campers in no time at all. The marshmallows become golden and the chocolate is perfectly gooey.
You can make this treat to enjoy any time of year.
- - graham crackers
- - marshmallows (mini or regular)
- - chocolate (either chocolate chips or Hershey's chocolate bar)
- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper as this can get a bit sticky and this makes for easier clean up.
- Break the graham crackers in half and line the sheet with as many pieces as you can. Be sure to set aside enough pieces to use as toppers for every one you line the baking sheet with!
- If you are using regular size marshmallows you may want to cut them in half so that the marshmallows spread out more. Place two halves on each graham cracker, or sprinkle mini marshmallows over all of the graham crackers.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the marshmallows and graham crackers. Or, place a piece or two of a Hershey's chocolate bar on each graham cracker.
- Pop the tray into the oven and bake for 5 minutes. Keep an eye on the marshmallows as you will see them start to get puffy. If you would like them a more golden brown, keep them in a smidgen longer, do watch them closely to prevent burning!
- Pull the tray out of the oven and immediately press a graham cracker topper on each square. Press down slightly so that the melted chocolate and marshmallows will hold the topper in place.
- You can easily make this into a smaller batch and bake only a few at a time!
