Several friends of mine have just become engaged over this holiday season, and I am so excited for them. The one thing we did right away after we got engaged, was pick a date. We also sent out save-the-date cards to those we knew without a doubt that we wanted them at our wedding.
Save-the-dates provide a great way to share that you are newly engaged and provide a gorgeous way to inform others of when the big day is so that they can mark it on the calendar. While it may seem funny to do this, we know how fast the calendar fills up in advance, especially when it comes to the holidays and summer months.
These types of cards are a great way to inform out of town guests too. It provides them a bigger window to make arrangements as it is suggested to send out save-the-date cards 4 to 6 months in advance. Where as the wedding invite often is sent out at least 8 weeks prior to the wedding date. If I was ever to attend a wedding that was out of town I would definitely appreciate as much advance warning as possible so that I could find the best travel deals. I wouldn’t want to miss a friend or family members wedding because I didn’t have enough notice.
Minted has some incredibly gorgeous save-the-date cards, they strive to bring the best in design to their customers. There is a wide selection of cards, everything from simple design prints, to ones that can include photos of the engaged couple. So you do not have to worry if you have yet to get engagement photos, but want to send these out!
So all you newly engaged couples out there consider sending out some save-the-dates it is likely you will have some wedding guests who will be very thankful for the gesture, and of course congratulations to you!
