I was so incredibly excited for Evie to start ballet, but I think she was even more thrilled about it than me. She had been counting dow the number of sleeps until dance class. My mom had bought her the sweetest little outfit and ballet shoes to wear as an early birthday/Christmas gift. Several times in the weeks before ballet class began she requested to get to wear her special outfit. She would twirl all around the living room. It was the sweetest thing to see. Dancing, and cute pink outfits already equals a win in my preschoolers books. She was won over just with those two things.
I want my children to get to try many different things. I have no idea what they may really enjoy, so why not check out a bunch of options. So far we’ve only tried swimming lessons, which is more a life skill, though who knows maybe one of my girls will continue on and becoming a lifeguard to help pay for college, or maybe one will become an Olympic diver? Next up we are hoping to try out skating, and who knows maybe come spring we will try soccer. For now its all things tulle and light pink, but as you can see we really want our girls to explore all the different options out there, something might become their life’s calling, a life-long love.
While the 2 – 3 year old ballet class is more fun, running around, and ribbon twirling than anything else. They are all working on their listening skills, and learning how to follow specific instructions. Really it is all play based for now, and at their age that is so important. They are all young. Oh, the smile on Evie’s face, and the smiles on all her little peers faces said it all. They were all thrilled to be there. Plus add in some songs from Frozen, and of course you have won them all over.
I will always remember how Evie went in to her first dance class a bit timid, and shy. It was a new situation, but she sat down on the circle mark on the floor and took it from there. By the end of the class her personality was shining through. It was the sweetest thing to see, and I am so looking forward to all of her classes. Seeing just what sorts of skills she picks up. For now in our home it is likely we will be seeing a whole lot more of all things ballet. Sorry, hubby… this just may be life with all girls. Our little ballerina does love motorcycles too though.

While looking over your blog posts, I came to realize we have common denominator! A little girl named Evie in both our lives! Mine was born one year ago and is so similar to yours! I cannot wait for her to try whatever activities she wants! And as much as I dress her up in the pretty dresses and tutus, her favourite thing right now is still daddies dirt bike!
