ONE MONTH OLD
Orie is a month old. Time is going so fast with our third little love. It feels like we just got home from the hospital with her, but so much has been crammed into the first weeks of her life.
Unfortunately, the hearing check wasn’t completed in the hospital because of a loud fan in our room that we had no way of turning off. We had to take her to get it checked at the clinic. She passed. We also spent several days going for daily bilirubin checks. She had some yellow to her skin and her eyes. Thankfully her numbers came back good.
Another thing we had to keep an eye on was her weight. By the two weeks check at my prenatal clinic she was not back at birth weight. We had to increase the number of feeds and try to get that little bit more into her. She finally got back to birth weight by three weeks. At that point she was also out of her newborn onesies. She was too little to be big and too big to be little because the next size was still swimming on her. At the one month mark exactly she was 9lbs even and still 21 inches in length.
Orie is our “worst” sleeper. Her sister’s were sleeping through the night by a month old. This little love is keeping us on our toes with some nights she sleeps for 12 hours and other nights she is up every couple of hours.
She loves to go outside and look at everything as it passes by when she is in the bassinet. Even falling asleep easily to all the bumps from the sidewalk and letting Daddy go pick up a coffee.
If she has a favourite thing already it’s anything soft, fuzzy, and comfy cozy. Thankfully, mommy bought her a blanket that is exactly that and she settles right into it.
We are all absolutely smitten with her. It’s been hard finding our groove as a family of five and making things work for bedtime and making sure everyone is getting the time and attention they are needing. We’re getting there though. Orie has definitely completed our little crew of 5 perfectly.
