We took our family photos back in November and I am just getting around to sharing them now since our Christmas cards have been printed and are now mailed. We met up with Danika Lee Photography at Burnaby Lake. We kept going back and forth about where we would take photos.Originally we wanted photos at a Christmas tree farm but that sadly fell through, then we debated an indoor location of some sort. We ended up throwing caution to the wind and decided to brave the outdoors. Thankfully the rain held off til we were heading back to the cars. You can see the skies were just waiting to pour in the photos.
We wanted something wintery with a pop of colour. So we added some red to our outfits and the girls had a little sparkle with their headbands. Addie of course, decided to ditch her headband and we were not in the mood to battle her about it. She was also trying to be Cinderella the whole time with misplacing one shoe.
This round for family photos we learnt a few things. Next time we are bringing a child wrangler. It was so hard getting the girls to cooperate, focus, not wander off, and so much more. We will have someone come with us to help with the girls when we do photos again. There will also be way more snacks brought!
One thing I did do was bring bird seed. This was brilliant. It kept Evie occupied and very happy as the birds made their way over to her. I adore the photos of her feeding the birds because we often go to parks to feed the ducks. It helped capture a memory.
Looking back a these the girls have already changed a lot. Addie is now walking all on her own. No more needing to hold onto someone’s fingers so she can walk. She’s independent now. That is just one reason why photo sessions each year are so important to me. Kids just grow up and change so quickly in a year. I want to capture that moment in time to remember forever.
Do you have family photos taken each year?
Do you get family photos taken specifically for your Christmas cards?

I love the look of your photos! I think you achieved what you were after. 🙂
I like to at least have some sort of casual family photo to give to immediate family at Christmas. We don’t do professional shoots very often. This year I’m hoping to have one after our baby is born in March then send out a new family photo to all the extended family and friends.
