This weekend was Addie’s second birthday. With everything that’s been going on, we decided to keep things really simple this year and have a smaller party. We headed to one of our local pumpkin patches and were joined by some family and friend and celebrated that our little pumpkin turned 2.
Sticking with tradition Tamara made the cake for the party. We have realized that “naked cakes” are the way to go to help prevent the sugar buzz. It was a spice cake with vanilla frosting and on the top, there were little pumpkins and vines made out of fondant. We kept the snacks simple too with some cookies we ordered from a local maker, fruit and veggie trays, juice boxes and of course some hot chocolate to keep the kiddos warm and coffee for the adults. Did you know that you can get a “take 12” from Timmy’s? That was Jason’s great idea. So smart for birthday parties!
Counting down to party day we were saying a prayer that it would not rain. We kept checking the weather reports leading up to it and thankfully the day before the weather prediction changed to cloudy. Everyone still headed to the patch with their rain boots and coats. As soon as we arrived the kids headed off to the playground and soon we were all loading onto the hayride to go to the pumpkin patch.
A PUMPKIN THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY
Sugar Cookies by Say It With Sugar – Custom Sugar Cookies
Instead of doing goody bags for the kids, we instead had everyone find a pumpkin to take home. It worked really well, especially with Halloween only been a couple weeks away. Plus it was fun to see what sort of pumpkin everyone decided on. Some went for little round pumpkins, others picked a red or blue pumpkin!
This party was probably the most relaxed we have ever felt. It was just what we all needed and Addie was happy, which is what mattered most. We blinked, and our little girl is now two. She is our little pixie, full of energy, and loves to give hugs. We are so thankful for her.
Happy second birthday Addie! We love you lots.
