We have all been going a little bit crazy with staying at home due to the smoke in the air from the forest fires in BC, we needed to get out. We had a late start to the day and needed something simple to do. We packed everything up we needed, got the girls in the car and we went for a picnic.
LET’S GO FOR A PICNIC…
FOOD, FAMILY, SUNSHINE…
Tucked in the valley is an old, one room school. Evie’s just starting to get into stories like Anne of Green Gables and Little House in the Big Woods. We have picture books that she loves having read to her. Going to this school was perfect for her imagination. We couldn’t go inside, but she loved peeking through the windows and through the front door.
We kept things super simple and brought finger foods and the girls sippy cups filled with drinks. We all enjoyed crackers with peanut butter, grapes, apple slices, hard boiled eggs, and cheese. Everything was on one little tray, everyone shared. We weren’t sure what our youngest was going to think of having peanut butter, the first few times she greatly disliked its stickiness. This time she happily enjoyed it.
This quiet afternoon adventure was just what we all needed. Our girls got all their energy out and one had a solid nap afterward, the other is coming to the end of nap time. At the end of our little picnic, we all realized we need to do this more often.
Lots and lots of peanut butter.
Playing on the front steps of the school, I wonder if this would be frowned upon back in the day?

That looks like the perfect picnic spot! I live in Florida and between the heat, humidity and mosquitoes, picnics are only for the fall and “winter” months. Looks like you all had a great time!

That was a great idea. Sometimes you just need to get away from everything.
