On our recent trip to Seattle over Spring Break, I challenged myself to pack in a more minimalistic way. I wanted to see if I could pack my kids stuff and mine into one bag. Thanks to Peekaboo Beans, packing became stress-free. Gone are the days of over packing for my girls. What isn’t gone are the number of cute outfits that can be created with a few key pieces.
THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE PACKING
Being selective about what I was packing made a huge difference. I made sure only necessary items were put into the bag. When it came to the clothing for my girls I wanted to know that each piece could work in multiple outfits. This gave more versatility to what was brought. In a way, we were trying to go all Bucket List Family in the way we were traveling. Little did I know until we were actually on our trip how valuable this would be. We were able to transition the kid’s outfits from cool spring mornings to a sudden heat wave in the afternoon.
WHAT WE PACKED FOR THE GIRLS
TOPS – Better Together Tee (Navy) + Friendship Tee (Burgundy)
BOTTOMS – Warm Way Leggings (Autumn)
LAYERING PIECE – One Another Jumper (Black)
JACKET – Style Girl Jacket (Black)
The key to making packing in a minimalistic way work for us was to not be afraid of mixing and matching. The girls looked stylish and pulled together thanks to how easily all of the pieces went together. I also needed to get past the whole “but they wore this yesterday” thing. If we had been gone longer, I could have gone and done some laundry easily because there were fewer pieces that needed to be washed.
There was no battle of “I don’t want to wear that” because my kids love their Peekaboo Beans pieces. When they see Beans in their wardrobe, they know it’s going to be comfy. Knowing that they would be sitting in the car for several hours, this was extremely important to me for them. They are also able to be independent when picking out an outfit, but my girls both love to always match.
After such a successful trip where packing wasn’t something that caused me to worry, I feel like if my family were to ever go on a bigger trip I may be able to pack everything we need in carry-ons!
HAVE YOU EVER PACKED EVERYTHING YOUR FAMILY NEEDED IN A WEEKEND BAG OR CARRY-ON?
