The countdown is on and I am in a bit of panic to make sure we are all set and ready to go to Disneyland. I tend to be stressed out before we leave to go anywhere. This time, I have made up packing lists for everyone.
The plan is to print out the packing lists I have created, leaving room at the bottom in case I missed anything because I very likely did. I will mark off the exact number of items needed, for example, the exact number of t-shirts and shorts that will be packed for each person, and check them off the list as they go into the suitcase.
Over the years been a major over-packer to now being able to fit what is needed for all of us in one to two suitcases depending on the number of days and what is needed. When I was first told to roll items instead of just folding them and putting them in the suitcase it made a huge difference.
Just this year I have learned it helps to plan out each outfit and pack one or two extra items for those just-in-case moments. Hello, diaper explosions! For little ones I have also seen a few different videos where you roll the child’s whole outfit together or pack it into a ziploc bag and remove all of the air. I am debating trying out one of these techniques for this trip.
Our goal for this family vacation is to pack in one checked in bag (so not a fan of the fees airlines are charging now) and then we are allowed three carry-on bags and personal items. This is because Jason and I both have booked seats and so does Evie.
I will be packing Evie’s carry-on suitcase, the Minnie Mouse one in the above photo, with all of her outfits and any other items that are specifically for her and are allowed in her carry-on bag. I will be putting Addie’s outfits into my carry-on bag as well as a few items for myself just in case something happens to the checked in bag. Jason will be doing the same thing with packing some items into a carry-on bag, and the rest of his stuff will be in the checked in bag.
On our first trip to Disneyland when Evie was little she had just transitioned to drinking milk. We brought milk for her with us in the diaper bag and upon informing security that we had it and it was for her they simply tested it and it was fine. I have been stressing out a bit about how things will work this time. Addie still takes bottles so we need to bring water and formula with us. I’ve actually called the airport and they have said that it’s the same as last time; let security know you have those items and that it is for the baby. I was even informed that things like baby food will be okay. When in doubt say it’s for the baby apparently.
How early before a trip do you start packing?
Feel free to save these packing lists and print them yourself

We haven’t flown anywhere as a family since all our vacation time is spent driving back to the coast to visit family (much cheaper than flying), but when we do, I feel like I would rather pay the baggage fee than have all those bags to lug around the airport. Once in a while paying for convenience feels good. 🙂
Have fun packing! That’s always one of my favourite things about going away. Haha!

Packing for me is such a chore no matter where my family goes. I love that you have laid these out like this for a Disney trip.

Great tips! I’m normally a very last minute packer and always end up forgetting something. Making a list is a great idea.

Have fun!!
The UK is super strict in airport security and bottles. I pumped 6 bottles for our flight because I was nervous Id run out of milk from stress? Anyways…they made us sample 50% of the bottles. Yikes! Lol. It is funny now…not at the time! Anyways, everywhere else we have travelled has been much more relaxed…yup, always say its for the baby.

These are great tip and they even will allowed bigger cream tubes if medically needed. I couldn’t find a small tub for muscle pain cream. They tested it and let me bring it.
