You can’t help but spot them right away when you go into the markets right now. You see them blooming in gardens at home. Peonies. If you are wanting to fill your home with them, where do you go? We head to a local peony garden. I promised I would share all about it after having so many questions come up when I shared a photo on Instagram.
Flowers From a Country Garden has become our go to for these gorgeous blooms. It is a little flower farm, that also does floral design. Right now it is peony season, and you cannot help but spot the bright hues from the road as your drive near. Word has definitely gotten out about this place over the years, because this past Mother’s Day they were sold out of blooms by early afternoon. This is not a you-pick place. The owners go out into the garden in the evening and cut the blooms that will be sold the next day. The prices at this country garden cannot be beat. A bunch of peonies for $7 to $9… yes please!
As soon as I heard that the peonies were in bloom here I knew I wanted to get over there with the girls for a little adventure, and took get some gorgeous flowers to bring home. I’ve actually been back since then to get some more. There is a very short time frame for peonies, they only bloom for about two to three weeks. Enjoy them while you can. I’m hoping to go back at least once more. If you are local, be sure to pop over soon into the little store to see what is available.
Evie loved seeing all the different colours, and was thrilled to get to pick which colour she wanted to have in the house. There was no surprise in her first saying she wanted pink. We also came home with a gorgeous white that has a touch of pink on the edge of the petals. Since this day two more shades of pink have come home with us. Our vases are overflowing with peonies. The best part is you do not need many for a vase to look full. It’s part of why I love peonies. Our kitchen also smells incredible right now.
I have a feeling my girls are going to grow up with a love of flowers since we keep filling our home, and garden with so many different types. There is just something special about little girls, and handfuls of fresh flowers.
