Our daughter started preschool a couple weeks ago, it was a first for all of us. In our welcome to preschool package was a list of things our daughter needed, and a list of things we needed to do. One of the things we needed to do was label all her items. Everything from shoes and coats, to all of her snack containers. All items needed a label with her name on it. I asked around to those who have been through preschool before and found out what they used. One company name kept coming up over, and over, Mabel’s Labels. There had to be something to this if so many parents kept suggesting this company, and their product to us. These were quickly added to our preschool prep list.
When you go to the Mabel’s Labels site there are lots of options. We quickly settled on getting a Little Kids School Combo. In the combo pack was:
- 40 Mini Custom Name Stickers: 38mm x 8mm (1-1/2″ x 5/16″)
- 50 Tag Mates™ Stick On Clothing Labels: 21mm x 10mm (13/16″ x 3/8″)
- 12 Preschool Shoe Labels (6 sets): Varied
- 2 Personalized Mini Tags: 30mm x 20mm (1-1/4″ x 3/4″)
The ordering process is very easy. First I typed in my daughter’s name, and then we the different styles available popped up. There are 16 different styles of labels to select from. I ended up sitting down with m daughter, and showing her all the options. I wanted her to have a say on what would be appearing on all of her items. She quickly got her selection down to a hearth style, or a cupcake style. After much back and forth, she made her choice and went with the hearts. One thing I really appreciate from Mabel’s Labels are all of the options, and that each one is very colourful, making them fun for kids. While you are going through the style options you will get to see how your child’s name will look on that specific label. You can also change the font you want on the label.
After placing our order we waited for them to arrive in the mail. Our Mabel’s Labels arrived in a standard sized envelope, and the labels inside were in a little booklet to keep them nice and safe during the shipping process.
I mentioned that everything needed a label. This is why the combo pack was perfect. It came with labels for inside of shoes, inside clothing articles, to hang from back pack zipper pulls, and to put on all other items. Everything we needed to have labeled, was covered for! I’ll admit I was a bit apprehensive about the clothing labels. I doubted their staying power, but I was encouraged by others to give them a chance. Sure enough they were right. Our clothing labels have already made it through numerous washes. They have great staying power. Just follow the simple directions for how to place the labels. Ease of use is so important to parents, they don’t want to have to worry, and Mabel’s Labels has made sure this happens.
What about the other labels? Well, it’s the same with them. Simply pull them off the label sheet, and apply. Finished! That is it, that is all you have to do. These labels have also stood up to usual wash, and wear. We have items we hand wash, and items that have gone through the dish washer on the top rack. No labels have come off, or show any signs of corners starting to pull up. I am so thankful that all of the labels are dishwasher, microwave, and laundry safe! They are also waterproof.
Now, my absolute favourite label out of the combo pack… the shoe labels. The shoe labels are brilliant. Every kid at some point has some frustration with figuring out which shoe goes on which foot. Mabel’s Labels has figured out a way to help make that easier for kids. The shoe labels form a shape. My daughter’s are a heart shape. The label divides in half when you peel it off the label sheet. One half goes in the left shoe, the other half goes in the right. When the child puts the shoes side by side the correct way they should “re-connect”. Our daughter quickly had this figured out, and is often thrilled to announce that it makes a heart.
It’s not often that I’m practically left speechless about something, but that is honestly how I feel about these. I am so impressed with the quality and durability of Mabel’s Labels. I will definitely be buying these for preschool next year, I even want to buy some for myself when I go back to work so that all of my items are labeled.
Disclosure: I was sent a Little Kids School Combo by Mabel’s Labels in order to facilitate this review. All thoughts and opinions are always my own. We love these labels.

My son just started preschool too and we went with Oliver’s labels. Unfortunately he really likes to scratch the stickers off his things… 😱

Oh no, no no no. Why must they do that? I’ve never heard of Oliver’s labels.
