We went off on a bit of an adventure today to visit some of our friends and to finally see their boat. It may have been rainy but it was a great little getaway.
We had never been to the area where they moor their boat. It is a pretty little scenic drive to get there. I could only imagine how pretty if is on sunny days. While driving there we saw an eagle sitting on top a tree. This was the start of spotting different creatures. We saw many starfish, another eagle, a loon, a seal, and of course seagulls.
Last summer we had bought a life jacket for Evie, it seems we will need to buy another this year as this one is getting snug. Poor girl, her little face was so squished from all of the padding. It was so funny watching her walk around in her life jacket, she had this funny little waddle going on. Kind of like a little duck.
I think we have a major water baby on or hands. Whether playing and swimming in the water, or on a boat she is always so happy. There is also just something so incredibly relaxing about being by the ocean. I always feel so much better after a visit to the ocean. Refreshed and relaxed.
We didn’t get to go out on the water thanks to the rainy weather, but it was still great to visit with our friends. Their boat has been dubbed the “Fellowship”, which I think is such a great name for a boat. Jason helped get the cover for the boat put back together in the rain, of course the guys got soaked while doing so and the rain stopped for a bit of time after they had finished.
In the afternoon Evie managed to fall asleep while some of the guys were playing music on their guitars and harmonica. There was even a little bit of drums happening too thanks to an Ipad. We couldn’t believe it. It has been a long time since she has just fallen asleep in someone’s arms, especially with all the music and noise going on around her, we were surprised she did.
We got to visit and tour a bit through a nearby hotel. We have now added it to our list of places we hope to visit and stay at in the future. Soon it was time to head back home, before we knew it it was almost dinner time and we still had to go back across the border. I am so glad we finally all have our Nexus passes. We had been waiting for Evie’s to get here. It is so worth it with the border lineups.
Since it was dinner time we decided to go out instead of making a meal at home. Don’t think we will do that again on a Saturday. We went to a couple places before finding one with a not too bad of a wait time.
Does anyone else order a meal off the kids menu for their toddler? We do. But… we know Evie won’t eat all of it so we always pick items we will all enjoy, and we order one other meal to share between Jason and I. It works out great as all 3 of us have a bit of everything, and it is much more budget friendly for us when eating out. Thanks to tonight’s dinner I am now wanting to make a pot roast and learn how to make Yorkshire pudding.
Evie is now fast asleep in bed and we are relaxing and about to watch a movie. I am also thinking about what I hope to do next weekend. Maybe a visit to the aquarium (anyone want to come?) and baking some cookies.
