It’s been awfully quiet around here on the blog. I wanted to savour the time with my family before our youngest turned one. So many things have happened since her first birthday. Add in that I returned to work at my day job a bit ago and things have been very busy. There are definitely lots I would like to catch up on on the blog and it’s coming. For now, let’s kick off the holiday season with the return of Santa photos at HighStreet in Abbotsford. This also includes the return of the Tree Lighting and Holiday Show next week!
SANTA PHOTOS AT HIGHSTREET
Our actual photo with Santa is at the very end of this post. I really appreciate that it’s just you and your crew when you go in Santa’s Bungalow for the photo. I am so thrilled that the red room is back. While we loved the creativity of the ski gondola last year for social distancing, this is our favourite!
We try to have the kids wear outfits that will stand out with all the red. This time we managed to find matching green dressed. I don’t think I’ll be able to find matching outfits for much longer, but I’m doing it while we can.
Due to COVID-19, children are unable to sit on Santa’s knee but are welcome to sit or stand beside Santa. Santa is also wearing a special mask with his beard (you can kind of see it in the photo, there’s a bit of white that makes it look like a smile. Guests visiting Santa over the age of five must wear a mask, including for the photo. We found our holiday-themed masks that they wore in last years photo to try and keep it festive.
HighStreet has also offered another photo option this year if you cannot book an appointment, or maybe you need to be cautious for personal reasons, you can pay for a digital print where Santa’s elves create a digital Santa portrait with a photo you send in. You can use an existing photo, take a photo of your kids in front of the tree in their PJs, or maybe you want a photo of your dog with Santa. HighStreet can make it happen.
HIGHSTREET TREE LIGHTING & HOLIDAY SHOW
Our kids love when they get to see this show. I am hoping that we will be able to go at some point during the holiday season. We all love the lights and the music. It’s a fun way to get into the festive spirit. You get to see Frosty, Rudolph, and of course Santa.
Shows run every Saturday starting on November 27 and going to December 18 at 5 PM, but remember the pre-show starts at 4:30 PM. Parking on Saturday nights can get a little busy. I would recommend going early to find a spot. Dress warmly and even bring some hot chocolate and some snacks with you to get a good viewing spot.
